I worked at the LA County Dept. of Public Social Services (D.P.S.S.) for eleven (11) years after which I was awarded my 10-year pin. I worked as an Eligibility Worker (Intake and Approved, both), Eligibility Worker Supervisor, and Administrative Assistant in the Public Inquiry and Appeals section, which is like a 'Complaint Dept'. My job was to know the EAS/Eligibility and Assistance Standards manual AND work out solutions when problems had been properly decided in the first place, according to the rules. This was like doing puzzles, both on the phone and by letter correspondence.
I attended Whittier-Beverly Law School at night ~ which was another way of doing puzzles. I'd won a math contest years earlier so thought "Verbal Geometry" was fun. Night School worked well for me, because 3 classes a semester enabled me to concentrate on each class 1 evening at a time: either M, T, Th ~ or M, W, Th.
I was pleased that I did well but surprised: The two fields were a bit similar, each seeking solutions. As a SOCIAL WORKER, my job was to ask "How do you FEEL about that?" to figure out how to establish Eligibility; as a LAWYER my job is ask "What do you want to DO about that?" to identify some legal remedies ~ and so is more satisfying as a "Mrs. Fix-It person" ~ which supports the purpose of The Law.
Since 1994 I have had a continuous AV rating with Martindale-Hubbell based on peer-review (as an Attorney who is highly ethical and has highest knowledge) and listed in their Bar Register of Pre-Eminent Lawyers.

Carol Ann Hunter Peters well informed me on what possible rights I may have with my grandmother
"Ms. Peters brings an enormous amount of hands-on life and professional experience to her Avvo answers. Those answers are accurate, analytic, and customized to the needs of the Avvo askers. These are exactly the qualities that every client would look for when hiring an attorney."
"Ms. Peters has made a substantial number of contributions on Avvo.com. I have read several of her contributions and have found them to be thoughtful, informative and practical. I endorse this lawyer's work."
"I was very fortunate to learn many aspects of Elder Law from Carol Peters. She is by far one of the most knowledgeable lawyers in Los Angeles. County in this area. You will do well to hire her as your counsel."
"I've known Carol longer than I should say, but she was introduced to me by a mentor in the early days of my practice, and I didn't know then just how valuable a resource she is to the elder law community, but I certainly do now. She's extremely knowledgeable, cares about her clients, is expert in the field and in navigating the ethical traps in this area, provides practical counsel and clients and attorneys in the Los Angeles area are lucky to have her."
"I endorse this lawyer. She is smart, articulate and cares about her clients. Carol is a wonderful source of information for other attorneys and great in court."
"Ms. Peters is perceptive and very analytical; she will spot an issue and hone in on it. She has a helpful way of dealing with clients, and people enjoy working with her. I recommend her in any probate or conservatorship case involving continuing client contact."
