Unprofessional and rude

I called Mr. Riggall in regards to legal assistance with selling a commercial property owned by our family. I left a message on his voicemail and he returned my call in a timely manner. That was the only positive because it all went swiftly downhill from there. I began by telling him that I was calli...ng on behalf of my parents (he then immediately interrupted me while I was speaking to ask if they were senile. That was the first of countless interruptions. He would never allow me to finish a thought or a sentence). I told him that NO, I am simply calling on their behalf because they are extremely busy professionals and haven't had time to call around and find an attorney who is a good fit for their case, so I offered to take some time out of my own day (I'm on maternity leave) to make some phone calls. Anyway, to make a long story short, Mr. Riggall was extremely rude and unprofessional-- not only in terms of the questions he asked but in the condescending manner in which he spoke. Without even allowing me to tell him what the crux of the case is about, he would continually interrupt to ask me questions or make condescending remarks. For example, he asked "Are either of your parents seeing a psychiatrist?" My parents are perfectly fine and mentally stable and I never alluded to the contrary (I simply mentioned that they were in their mid-60s), so I think this question was odd at best and rude at worst. But what was even more inappropriate was when I said "no they are not seeing a psychiatrist or therapist," and Mr Riggall then barked in accusatory tones, "Your father is an M.D. and he doesn't believe in seeing a psychiatrist??" He was putting words in my mouth and making assumptions about my parents and family that had absolutely nothing to do with the case. Mid-60s is not senile!!! The phone call ended when he chastised me for making the phone call at all. I had been nothing but courteous and had answered his inane questions with patience and MANNERS. But all of a sudden he said, "Frankly, I don't want to talk to you. Have either of your parents call me. You're not the one I would be doing business with anyway. You shouldn't be calling me." And then he hung up! I have never encountered such rudeness in my own professional life and I was aghast at how I was treated over the phone by Mr. Riggall. I can only imagine what it would be like to be his client-- probably a nightmare. He lost a potential client by being utterly unprofessional. If an attorney so very obviously disrespects a client, that client will not have confidence that the attorney will try to ensure that their client's best interests are met in a case, let alone fight for them if a case were to go to trial. I never really write reviews, but after such a disappointing and indeed shocking exchange with Mr. Riggall, I cannot remain silent. Hopefully others searching for a tax attorney find this review helpful.

This lawyer charged a lot and did not accomplish anything

My ex-husband and I were being audited by the IRS. Mr. Riggell charged me $5000 - I had to sell my personal property to raise this money. All he did was review the tax returns and write a letter to the IRS for the $5000. He said that by writing to the IRS he could probably convince them to have sep...arate hearings for both my ex-husband and I. This never happened and the IRS insisted on auditing my ex-husband and I together. Mr Rigell wanted an additional $5000. In addition, he referred me to an accountant who redid my taxes incorrectly. In the end, I hired a bookkeeper for $500 who actually was able to help me with this issue. In summary, Mr. Riggell charged me $5000 and did not accomplish anything!
