The daughter of an immigrant herself, she understands the dilemma of new immigrants in the United States. Her mother, a native of Taiwan, immigrated to the United States when she married her father, a serviceman in the United States Navy who retired in 1992 as Master Chief after 30 years of service. As an Asian-American, she has seen firsthand the difficulties encountered by both her mother and their friends in adjusting to a new country. These experiences made her decision to specialize in immigration law an easy one.
