Chelsea Marlene Norris

Originally i was quoted a $3500 flat rate for a non-contested divorce, and $5500 for a contested divorce. I was told the $5500 would take me through trial if it went that far. Within a month of me giving her the money($5500) i started having trouble getting ANY response from her, or her offfice. got ...a bill almost every week. She burned through the $5500 in record time. She was supposed to fill out paperwork for a trial date. She told me it would take 2 months just to get a date, then it could take up to 10 months to get on the courts calendar. I waited the 2 months and when i finally called to check and see when the trial date was it took me over a week of emailing and calling to get her on the phone. i only got her on the phone when i got upset with her staff and told them i was very angry. I find out that she never even filed it, so now i have another year of going through this. She then said he would need another $7500 to take this to trial. WHAT? this was NEVER mentioned. I told her that she had trapped me into this and she was a con artist. When i called her on her lack of professionalism she said he no longer wished to be my attorney. how convenient, since all she really did was fill out billing paperwork showing how she had "used" my money.

I would give Chelsea Norris 0 stars if that were an option. Ms. Norris was my second attorney on my divorce case because I was seeking a strong custody lawyer and she was suggested to me as a custody attorney. I have nothing positive to say and deeply regret using her. She charged a lot of money for ...absolutely no benefit, I literally would have gotten the same result if I had represented myself. I say that confidently as I am now three years post divorce and have represented myself at numerous hearings over the years. Ladies dealing with domestic abuse situations in particular do not use this attorney. My ex was abusive. I asked for some basic things in my custody agreement such as doing custody exchanges at a public place. Ms. Chelsea Norris scoffed and asked if that was really necessary stating I would find it to be an inconvenience down the road. Three years later, my ex is still abusive and I am so grateful I insisted on adding this language despite her "advice" not to. I was the primary supporter financially of our family and asked Chelsea Norris to fight on my behalf to reduce my alimony obligation based on the fact that our marriage did not contribute to my ex's inability to support himself. Chelsea Norris said there was nothing she could do about alimony. Three years later, I've had three different attorneys tell me I should have fought the alimony originally and that it's harder to change later. I am currently going back to court to get it reduced. Chelsea Norris made no effort on the custody agreement. she simply wrote into the agreement the items I provided to him. I am regularly finding errors which has caused a lot of difficulty in coordinating visitation exchanges. For the amount of money I paid her, and because she has marketed herself as a custody attorney, I would have expected the custody agreement to be air tight. Ms. Chelsea Norris was my second lawyer so my paperwork had already been filed, however, her office insisted on refiling. I found numerous errors they needed to correct. I was charged a lot for them to do something i had never asked and for them to do it incorrectly. Every step of the way, the work Ms. Norris and her office provided was incorrect, unhelpful, and cost a ridiculous amount. I can not strongly enough urge people, especially women, to not use Chelsea Norris.

Chelsea Norris claims he has a good reputation with the judges but it doesn't show. Chelsea Norris got in an argument over something stupid right off the bat and screwed the rest of our case. Chelsea Norris claimed she would point out several things in court that were never mentioned. Chelsea Norris ...brought up a couple things and his answers were responded with lies that she didn't argue. Chelsea Norris had a bad attitude in court and has a bad attitude every time I've met with her. She said he would take care of the remaining paperwork after the minute order and nothing worth a crap has been done. Its been 8 months since court and I still don't have anything in writing concerning my custody. You have to call her constantly and her receptionist says "oh she's away from her desk, I'll have her call you back"(his assistant) don't count on it. It never happens. Also, I'm being charged for calls and paperwork that hasn't made any progress. Sorry Chelsea Norris, but you look like a fool in the courtroom.
