James Victor Kosnett

I originally wrote a negative review of James Kosnett that was posted for several years but it is now missing. I STRONGLY believe he complains and complains to Avvo until they remove negative reviews. Over time, I have seen many more negative reviews actually written than you are seeing here. My i...nitial review was about how Kosnett called me from a blocked number acting very interested in my education case that I had asked a service to help me look for an attorney for (I used a legal service where perhaps lawyers are paid to consult with every potential client) and asking me to print off a bunch of documents for him to look at--rather than just email them to him--but when I actually drove all the way to his office (which took longer than the meeting did), he spent the entire time trying to talk me out of suing, and didn't even look at all the documents he'd had me print off. It was VERY strange, and a waste of time all the way around.

I wouldn’t recommend this firm to anyone. I contacted the firm seeking an initial consultation regarding a complex medical-school academic appeal matter. Unfortunately, I found the consultation extremely frustrating, condescending and derogatory. I was repeatedly interrupted while attempting to expla...in the chronology of my situation, and I did not feel that I was given an adequate opportunity to explain the factual circumstances before the attorney reached a conclusion about the merits of my situation. I understand that an attorney may ultimately determine that a matter is not legally viable, but I expected to at least be able to finish explaining the circumstances before receiving that assessment. The experience left me feeling dismissed rather than heard.

Do not hire James Kosnett. I hired this attorney to handle an education related case for me and after he accepted a large retainer, he did not follow up with me for nearly six months. Mr. Kosnett was supposed to obtain a refund for a college class that should have been paid for by my universi...ty. I assumed he was working on my case during the six month period I did not hear from him because he told me he needed some time, but I was wrong. When I finally called to see what was going on, he told me he was finished with the case. Basically, all he did was send one email over a six month period before calling it a day. This was after I paid him $2,500.00. I have never paid so much for so little and I would never recommend Mr. Kosnett's services to anyone. He was extremely difficult to deal with during our consult as well, constantly interrupting me and at times, I felt he was simply rude and unprofessional. I regret hiring him and I should have known better but I gave him a chance because he seemed like he could deliver. Again, I was wrong. Buyer beware. Check out some of the other reviews on this site and it will be easy to see that my experience was not unique.
