Raymond Joseph Tittmann

Raymond J. Tittmann is the founding partner of EMH’s Los Angeles office. Ray advises and represents insurance companies on a wide range of insurance products, including general liability (CGL), professional liability (E&O), employment practices (EPLI), property (P&C), commercial automobile coverage, lender-placed insurance, and various other specialty products.  Ray also maintains a broad commercial and class action litigation practice, including claims under California’s unfair competition law, accountant and agent’s liability defense, personal injury, real estate and environmental damage. As an author and editor for the International Risk Management Institute’s CGL Reporter, Ray publishes regularly on a broad range of policy language and cutting edge coverage issues across the country.

Ray has also been recognized by Chambers & Partners USA for two years in a row in the area of Insurance Law (Insurer). Chambers ranks leading firms and lawyers in a range of practice areas. Out of the hundreds of firms in California with an insurer-side coverage practice, only twelve were listed by Chambers, including EMH. Of those twelve, all but two are 500+ attorney Big Law firms. EMH is the only young, mid-sized boutique to be recognized.

Ray's favorite quote comes from Sun Tzu: "Win first, then go to war." He strives to frame every matter, negotiation, or litigation well in advance to achieve the unique business needs and interests of his clients.  This includes attempting an efficient early resolution through negotiation;  seeking court termination of the matter via motions for summary judgment or dismissal; engaging in protracted discovery battles; fully litigating the matter through trial; or pursuing precedent-setting appeals.

When he is not practicing law, Ray enjoys playing and coaching soccer with his six children.  He also serves on the Board of Regents for his college alma mater, Thomas Aquinas College.
