David B. Sandelands

I focus my practice on patent and trademark procurement and infringement litigation. With regard to patents, I specialize in the acquisition of patents in the mechanical, electro-mechanical, medical device and business method arts. Representative industries include automotive, aerospace, manufacturing, industrial lighting, medical devices, and consumer products, among others. Acquiring patent protection is often critical to protect your product development investment. 

With regard to litigation, I represent plaintiffs and defendants in patent, trademark, trade dress, trade secret and copyright cases in federal and state courts. If you need to enforce your intellectual proprty rights or have been accused of infringement, I can help.

I also have in-depth experience in patent reexamination proceedings and opinion work including freedom to operate, patent noninfringement and patent invalidity opinions.

I am a graduate of the University of California, Hastings College of the Law (1998) and of Michigan State University (Go Spartans!), B.S. Mechanical Engineering (1982).

I am a member of the State Bars of California and Texas and am a Registered Patent Attorney. 

Prior to beginning my legal career, I enjoyed a 12 year career as an Aerospace Engineer at Hughes Aircraft Company and the McDonnell Douglas Corporation working on communications satellites, the C-17 Globemaster cargo aircraft and the International Space Station.
