I am a passionate advocate on behalf of my Employment Law clients. I have 28+ years experience and hold an AV-Preeeminent rating, the highest rating issued by Martindale-Hubbell. For several years, including 2020-21, I have been recognized as a SuperLawyer in Employment Law by Law & Politics Magazine.

I am an active member of the Santa Barbara County Bar Association, where I serve as the Labor & Employment Section Head. I regularly organize Continuing Legal Education (CLE) programs to educate lawyers in the community on employment law issues and developments. I also belong to the the William L. Gordon Inn of Court and I am an Associate Member of the Santa Barbara Contractors Association.

I volunteer in various local philanthropic organizations, including VNA Health (formerly, Visiting Nurse & Hospice Care), where I serve on the Board of Trustees, Ethics and Audit Committees, as well as on the Animal Welfare Committee of the Santa Barbara Zoo. I formerly served on the Board of Trustees of Child Abuse Listening and Mediation (CALM).

When not practicing employment law, I play tennis in the Montecito Mafia and as a member the Santa Barbara Polo & Racquet Club. I am also passionate about music (I play drums and piano), cooking and chess. I enjoy spending time with my family and pets and following my daughter's accomplishments as a rising hunter jumper equestrian.

Compassionate, Extremely Knowledgeable, Responsive
I was referred to Alex through another attorney that was familiar with my case. The referring attorney is highly regarded and knew immediately who the best Employment attorney was for the job. Upon meeting Alex, I felt extremely confident and comforted hiring him as my attorney. His knowledge of Employment Law and explanation of the process educated me in an area that was very foreign to me. Whether you are an employee or employer I highly recommend Alex for your Employment Law needs!

Knowledgeable, thoughtful and responsive
This is my first time working with a lawyer and found Alex to be thoughtful, knowledgeable, thorough, upfront and responsive. I reached out to Alex for his consul on a separation agreement and potential wrongful termination suit. I was recently terminated by my company and it was not a pleasant experience. Alex responded the same day I left a message and took the time to listen to understand my situation. He was upfront that he had more experience representing employers than employees and I appreciated Alex wanting to consult another lawyer regarding my situation. He empathized with me but capably explained things from a legal standpoint to me. He reviewed my separation agreement and helped me negotiate a better severance package. He was available and responsive via phone, email or text, and it was comforting to know that someone was watching out for my best interest throughout this whole process.

Highly recommend!
In my 30 years of professional work, I had never needed legal representation regarding an employer. After only one phone call with Alex at The Law Offices of Alex Craigie, I was no longer fearful or overwhelmed with my situation. During the entire legal process, Alex always updated me in a timely manner allowing me to focus on my family and my next career move. The knowledge I gained along with the end results of my case was very positive!

Professional, experienced, invaluable
Alex has always been available whenever I've needed his services for a client, which is pretty often, and I couldn't imagine doing business in California without his support. Operating a business in our state is extremely challenging with the laws changing so often and I highly recommend working with him.
