Beyond thankful for Stephen Chen's wisdom/advise in Family Law, compassion towards his clients needs, his communication (email, text, phone), execution and always available in a moments notice. Stephen's dedication TRULY sets him apart in Family Law. He's knowledgable, a straight shooter ...and an attorney who listened to our every concern. He was also prepared with questions and always kept our meetings on track without wasting our time (which could cost more money). Prior to Stephen, we had a nightmare of an experience with another attorney and that costed our DVRO case (including crucial evidence i.e: pics, text, videos that was dismissed with the DVRO). It was such an injustice and devastation to our family. However, before custody issues (case) began, Stephen was able to see the truth behind our jurisdictional concerns and shed light over a scenario that was going south very quick. No other attorney was able to understand the UCCJEA and explain it like him. As a result, he redeemed our family with facts and the judge was able to see through the slander from opposing party and counsel. The judge relinquished jurisdiction in CA, turned the case over to its rightful owner & closed the case all together. Stephen Chen's work ethic, knowledge and quick thinking gives you the confidence that he's been in the field for decades. He researches and questions everything, we never had to doubt or worry that he was fighting on our behalf, in & outside of court. To give you a lil context, the complexity and trajectory of our case after the DVRO case needed nothing short of a miracle. We decided to call Stephen one last time (he was on paternity leave when we initially called him) he took on our case in a moment's notice and accomplished SOO much more in a 30 minute meeting than the previous attorney accomplished in the few months prior. Stephen's conviction opened doors that were closed according to everyone else. As a result, he opened the eyes of all the attorneys and judges involved -- Justice was SERVED! I'll start out by saying that Stephen is a really amazing lawyer. He really dedicated his time to my case and was on top of everything along the way to make sure my case was resolved in one day and there wasn't a need to keep coming back and forth. My case dealt with a TRO and I had received it ba...sed on false accusations but to make matters worst my child's mother decided to issue it against me right as I was leaving town in a few days so I was in a bit of pressure to find a good lawyer that would represent me in my case. The thing that really lead to choose Stephen was that when I went to his free 30 minute consultation he was attentive and actually paying attention. I had called and gone to other lawyers but most were just interested in me making a deposit for the retainer before I had even explained my case. After I retained Stephen he worked with me to ensure that we had a proper defense even though I wasn't in town and had a super busy schedule. I have never been in court before so him walking me through all the steps was extremely helpful. At the end of the day the TRO was dismissed and he even got a custodial agreement set in place. I would recommend Stephen to anyone dealing with any family law case as he is very knowledgable and totally worth every dollar you spend on him. Personally I feel like in my case this isn't the last time I will be in court trying to come to some sort of agreement with my child's mother and I don't know how the outcome may be but I do know for sure I will want Stephen on my side. Update: Thanks to Stephen and his hard work I was able to finish Grad School and get my Masters in Engineering because I didn't have to worry so much about dealing with the struggles after the separation with my child's mom. I'm in a really good place now in my life and career. I see my son whenever I want and now I even get along with his mom we are friends and excellent co-parents. Stephen is the best!! He's the lawyer you want by side when you show up to court and dealing with any family law issues.
