I never leave feedback. Never. However, I'm making an exception in this case because of the stellar service I received from my attorney. Stephen Chen is the best attorney I've ever worked with (and I've had the unfortunate opportunity to work with many of them-business related). I was caught off guar...d when my wife filed for divorce and I knew it was going to be a very difficult process. Well, two and a half years later, I'm finally finished with it. It could have taken much longer but Stephen was able to precisely negotiate our way through it despite each side having completely different expectations. Stephen is professional, kind, strategic, always prepared and most importantly never looses sight of his client. When you spend two and a half years working with someone, you really get to know them. I'll start out by saying that Stephen is a really amazing lawyer. He really dedicated his time to my case and was on top of everything along the way to make sure my case was resolved in one day and there wasn't a need to keep coming back and forth. My case dealt with a TRO and I had received it ba...sed on false accusations but to make matters worst my child's mother decided to issue it against me right as I was leaving town in a few days so I was in a bit of pressure to find a good lawyer that would represent me in my case. The thing that really lead to choose Stephen was that when I went to his free 30 minute consultation he was attentive and actually paying attention. I had called and gone to other lawyers but most were just interested in me making a deposit for the retainer before I had even explained my case. After I retained Stephen he worked with me to ensure that we had a proper defense even though I wasn't in town and had a super busy schedule. I have never been in court before so him walking me through all the steps was extremely helpful. At the end of the day the TRO was dismissed and he even got a custodial agreement set in place. I would recommend Stephen to anyone dealing with any family law case as he is very knowledgable and totally worth every dollar you spend on him. Personally I feel like in my case this isn't the last time I will be in court trying to come to some sort of agreement with my child's mother and I don't know how the outcome may be but I do know for sure I will want Stephen on my side. Update: Thanks to Stephen and his hard work I was able to finish Grad School and get my Masters in Engineering because I didn't have to worry so much about dealing with the struggles after the separation with my child's mom. I'm in a really good place now in my life and career. I see my son whenever I want and now I even get along with his mom we are friends and excellent co-parents. Stephen is the best!! Prior to retaining Stephen Chen, I worked with three other attorneys through a divorce and just shy of a decade of subsequent post-judgment motions, during which time my custody agreement grew steadily so lopsided that it ultimately became barely manageable. In just one action and court appearance, ...Stephen Chen was able to clearly present a fair justification for addressing these inequities, yielding a result that leaves me much more confident that I will not be blocked from playing a meaningful role in my son's life--which is really all that matters. The cliche I heard most commonly about lawyer selection was that you should find a "pitbull," but in my experience what you need in fact is a lawyer who can exercise tact and discretion, but can bust out a little pitbull when needed. Stephen Chen neatly struck this balance for me, and I will continue to work with him in the future.

I am involved in an extremely high conflict case yet Stephen has provided me with a sense of calm and confidence. He went up against my daughter's father's attorney who had 20 years experience and Stephen dominated in Court. Actually, he hit it out of the ballpark. He won the respect of an extremely tough but fair Judge - she even complimented him at the conclusion of our judgment hearing. Stephen is reasonably priced for the moment as he continues to build his practice. He is up to date on modern cases, strategy, rulings, changes in code and civil procedure, etc. I can not say enough great things about him. He even caught an error by the Judge and graciously corrected her. We were all surprised and impressed, including, I think, the Judge. His grace and professionalism benefit him, and me, in Court. Stephen is strategic and precise in his execution and delivery of his arguments that at times the opposing counsel and opposing party were left stunned and silent with his performance. I had to contain my excitement and joy. Anyway, I didnt meant to go so far with my response but its so important and meaningful to me.
