I was in need of an Attorney and my Fiance' did some searching and we were so lucky to find Kaitlyn to handle a child support case to clear up the emancipation of one of my children and an issue that had not be resolved through my divorce a few years ago. As a preliminary matter, I am submitting this as a peer review, and not as a client/former client of Kaitlyn Miller. Kaitlyn and I were both employed as deputies in the Litigation Division of the State of Nevada's Attorney Generals' Office where we focused primarily on defending the Nevada Departm...ent of Corrections and its employees against inmate lawsuits. I found Kaitlyn to be very knowledgeable regarding civil rights litigation and she was a zealous advocate on behalf of the NDOC and its employees. Kaitlyn managed not only a high volume of cases throughout her tenure, but was an invaluable resource in assisting new deputies acclimate to our busy division. More importantly, Kaitlyn was responsible for handling a number of complex cases and achieved favorable results while maintaining a high level of professionalism and integrity. Recently, I had the pleasure of second chairing a federal jury trial with Kaitlyn in August, 2013. Opposing counsel were two well-known, experienced Las Vegas attorneys, representing an extremely experienced inmate litigator regarding numerous alleged violations of the Omnibus Safe Streets and Crime Control Act. As lead counsel, Kaitlyn was primarily responsible for performing all pre-trial briefing, developing trial strategy and examination of witnesses. I was extremely impressed by Kaitlyn's preparation and trial decisions which led to the jury's finding of "no liability" against the two corrections' officers at the conclusion of the three day trial. There were absolutely no surprises encountered during the trial which is unusual for trial lawyers. I credit this in large part to Kaitlyn's outstanding preparation and knowledge of the facts and issues related to plaintiff's claims. I do not believe that I am understating the substantial value of Kaitlyn's contributions to the Litigation Division and was disappointed to hear that Kaitlyn was terminating her employment with the office to pursue private practice. I have absolutely no hesitation in vouching for Kaitlyn's character, integrity and work ethic, and have no doubt that she will continue to be an outstanding member of the Nevada bar. Kaitlyn's impressive qualities will allow her to succeed in private practice, and I would recommend her to anyone requiring a family lawyer.
