Did Nothing

Hired Bob to negotiate with the IRS to settle my tax debt. I told him my income would not be going down, but he collected $10K from me and for 3 years said he could do nothing as I was in bankruptcy. After that he said I made too much for an OIC, and that we would be best to wait until I retired (wh...ich I told him was not going to happen any time in the foreseeable future). He said to wait until I got a threatening letter from the IRS and not to worry about the interest and penalties as the more I owed the easier it would be for him to negotiate a reduction. Three years later, when I still hadn't gotten the threat - he said I had used up my $10k and he couldn't do anything more for me unless I wanted to pay $400/hour for further consultation. Left Bob and when I finally heard from the IRS the fees I accumulated by his not settling when he said he couldn't negotiate an offer have now doubled what I owe - and I'm in the same position I was before I paid him.

For 2004 and 2005, you owed IRS over $122,000 for tax years 2004 and 2005. On October 20, 2017, you engaged us to file an Offer In Compromise for you on grounds you could not pay what you owed IRS. You Offered $500 to settle your tax liability. You filled out and signed a financial statement under oath supporting your contention that you could not pay more than $500. On November 14, 2017, we promptly filed your Offer based on your statement that you could not pay. You claimed a refund in 2016 but you told us that this was as a consequence of a one-time child care credit which you never paid IRS in the first place but which you applied for on your 2016 tax return. In fact, your income increased substantially during 2017 and 2018 which you did not share with us or IRS. We argued and convinced IRS to ignore the 2016 child care refund as it was a one-time event. Your contention that we ever told you or anyone else “not to worry about penalties and interest” is manifestly untrue. However, you never told us your income increased substantially (like more than two times and almost 3 times) during 2017 and 2018 to the point where IRS determined you could pay more than the $500 you offered. We have compromised over 302 cases and saved taxpayers over $53,000,000. Those cases qualified for Offer acceptance on the grounds of doubt as to collectability. You failed to let us know that your income increased so substantially in 2017 and 2018, that you could pay more than the $500 you offered which resulted in IRS ultimately rejecting your Offer after we appealed your case to the highest IRS level. I am sorry that you, like everybody, who can pay, must pay what they can. We are attorneys and not guarantors of results, and your failure to be candid with us about your increased ability to pay did not help you. We have always communicated with you promptly and courteously and will continue to do so. We always take suggestions and criticisms most seriously and we respond promptly.

Helped us in a real time of need with IRS

We had been dealing with some back taxes for some time. We thought we had been taking care of it. Just before Christmas a IRS collection officer showed up at our door. We also had 2 years that had not been filed that we did not know about. After a few days of worry over Christmas weekend, I contacted... the office of Robert Grossman. Mr Grossman called me back on Christmas day. He immediately started to put me fears at ease. Asked me to come to his office on the Tuesday after Christmas. The wife and I met with Mr. Hatch, the other attorney in the office, who went right to work on the problem within the first ten minutes of our meeting. A week later Mr Hatch had our issues wrapped up with the IRS. Did we owe the money to the IRS yes, but Mr Hatch made sure the amounts were correct and true. He also let the collections office know the stress they put on us because of the horrible holiday timing they had. As it turns out we were a training case for a newly hired collections employee. We have never hired a attorney before for anything but I would never hesitate a second to send anyone to these two men. They took the time to answer phone calls and let us pop in for quick 10 minute comfort or help sessions.

Highly Recommended

I highly recommend Bob Grossman to anyone with IRS issues. He is experienced, thoughtful and creative. I had a problem that I thought was insolvable but he showed me the way and resolved my problem which enabled me to get on with my life. I am greatful for his expertise and answers. I thank and h...ighly recommend him to anybody with an IRS problem.

All Hat and no cattle. More concerned with his image with the IRS than representing his clients.

Didn't do what he stated he could do. Claimed credit for things he didn't do. Didn't earn the large fee we paid him. We ended up reaching a settlement with the IRS without him because we could not stand his little tantrums. When things didn't go his way he tried to intimidate with bluff and bluster. ...Very poor client relations. He was more concerned with looking good in the eyes of the IRS than doing what client requested. He has no patience for clients who don't follow his advice to the letter. If you can't think for yourself, you will get along fine. If you can think for yourself, represent yourself or hire someone else.
