I contacted Mr. Coburn's office via his website. To my surprise, he reached out to me immediately. During the initial phone call Mr. Coburn was very reassuring that he could handle the issue I presented. I paid his retainer to get started. I was told that Mr. Coburn would be my attorney and that I wo...uld be contacted after the first court date. I waited 7 business after my court date and still had not heard from Mr. Coburn. I called his office and left a message. 6 hours later I was contacted by an attorney whose last name I still do not know. He left me a very static filled message indicating that I would not be able to speak to him for 4 more days and to call back. I waited the 4 days and called back to leave another message. When I finally was able to speak directly to the mystery attorney, he did not even have the facts of my situation correct despite having the same documents I have. The information was very clear in black and white based on the paperwork Mr. Coburn's office sent me. In the end, the mystery attorney worked out the same deal that the public defender would have offered me at no cost. Upon attending court to accept this deal, the mystery attorney was late to court and dressed in a beat up suit with visible holes in it. Standing before the judge, this attorney didn't even have the correct charge. This issue is not about the money. I would have willingly paid the $1200 retainer for peace of mind. I did not get peace of mind. I merely got baited and switched with a lot of run around.

I was arrested in a few years ago while in town on a business trip. My BAC was under the legal limit of .08, but I was still charged with a DUI and speeding, and spent 21 hours in a holding cell at CCDC before being released on my own recognizance. I visited Mark Coburn's office after being released,... and he agreed to take my case to court without me having to fly back to Vegas to make appearances. The process took almost a year to play out in court. He negotiated with the DA to reduce my charges to Reckless Driving, with a fine of $585, a $225 online DUI course, a Victim Impact Panel, and 20 hours of community service. Also, the speeding ticket was reduced to Illegal Parking with a fine of $145. My BAC was UNDER the legal limit, and I felt Reckless Driving was still too severe of a charge. I stated this to Mr. Coburn, and I asked him to go back to the DA and attempt to further reduce the charges. He did so, and the DA agreed Careless Driving with an additional 50 hours of community service. So I agreed to those terms. I have zero respect for the Las Vegas Metro Police Department and the Las Vegas District Attorney's Office, but I do respect Mark Coburn for the job he did for me. It sucks that I have a record and that I lost my job, but I can only blame myself for the events leading up to my arrest. On a side note, Mr. Coburn also granted me a discount for his representation since I paid up-front and in cash.
