Amber Weeks is a Partner at Vrapi Weeks and the manager of the Albuquerque, New Mexico office. Ms. Weeks is an active member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) and regularly presents at national and regional AILA conferences. Ms. Weeks has presented and written practice advisories regarding marriage-based immigration cases and complications, how to resolve delays in employment-based immigration cases, naturalization, waivers, travel, and other topics. Ms. Weeks is currently on the AILA USCIS Field Operations Committee to track USCIS trends and changes, and she is the USCIS liaison for the Albuquerque USCIS Field Office. Ms. Weeks previously served as co-chair of the AILA Distance Learning Committee and as the AILA-ICE Liaison for New Mexico.
Ms. Weeks graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of New Mexico School of Law in 2010, where she received a Highest Academic Achievement Award. She also earned Clinical Honors and served as the Managing Editor of the Natural Resources Journal. Ms. Weeks also studied Mexican Law in Guanajuato, Mexico.
Prior to law school, Ms. Weeks worked as a community developer in Albuquerque’s International District, where she helped to organize a community-run health center, immigrant’s rights workshops, and youth programs. From 2006 to 2009, Ms. Weeks volunteered and worked as a legal assistant at Catholic Charities to prepare self-petitions for immigrant survivors of domestic violence under the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) and U-Visa petitions.
