I represent individuals, children, and families who have suffered a serious personal injury or who have lost a loved one due to negligence, recklessness, malice, or greed. I do not represent insurance companies, corporations, or government entities.
I believe in the jury system. Juries have an opportunity to make our society safer and better. Substantial jury verdicts not only compensate the victims of negligence, but they make the guilty take responsibility for their actions.
I believe that representing my clients zealously is only part of my job. I believe that caring for my clients and listening to them is equally important. I often spend time with my clients outside the office.
I am a Board Certified Trial Lawyer. I earned an AV Preeminent Rating from Martindale-Hubbell, the highest rating Martindale-Hubbell gives. In 2011-16 the National Trial Lawyers Association named me one of the Top 100 Trial Lawyers in New Mexico. In 2014-16, I was named a Super Lawyer.
In 2014, I graduated from the Gerry Spence Trial Lawyers College. I rountinely incorporate psychodrama into my law practice.
If you have been seriously injured or if you have lost a loved due to another's negligence or wrongdoing, I would be honored to represent you.
In 2015, my son, Thomas, joined the law firm. Thomas is fast becoming an outstanding trial lawyer.

Relationship: Worked together on matter
I endorse this lawyer. Jim Wood is a great trial lawyer. I have personally tried cases with him and have observed his superior court room skills. He is a hard working lawyer with a great heart and always gives 100% to the case and the clients. What is unique about Jim Wood, is the fact that regardless of his years of experience and high skills, he has remained down to earth and cares for the clients. I respect and admire him for his devotion to the practice of law; his high ethics and professionalism. Jim Wood never stops in bettering his law practice and his trial skills. I find that inspiring! It is obvious that practicing law is his passion, his life and he has given it all. I have asked Jim Wood to work with me in cases and will do so in the future as he is an experienced lawyer and someone I know and trust will do a great job for the clients.
