When my ex-wife unexpectedly threw a “below the belt punch” when trying to receive custody of our son, I needed a no-nonsense, professional attorney. James stuck to the facts as he laid out all of my options. He refused to indulge in similar tactics as opposing counsel, and kept to his knowledge of... the law and professional courtroom etiquette. He knew when to urge me to negotiate, and when it was time to argue in front of the Judge. In the end, I couldn’t have asked for a better outcome for me and my family. Not only did my son remain in the better home, my ex-wife ended paying my Attorney’s fees. It was a long exhausting case, but James kept a positive attitude, which helped boost my morale. James seemed to know when to be extra firm with me in order to help me make the best choices in one of the worse periods of my life. My experience was not good. I paid a high consultation fee to see Sandra Fromm. Her hourly rate was very expensive and I found her condescending and rude. I was handed off to James Cork, who did not have the experience, knowledge or skills needed for my situation. I was not adequately informed as t...o my legal options in dealing with a sensitive post-divorce issue and it cost me dearly. James Cork told me he "can't go through every detail with every client" and that it was up to me to "ask" the opposing party for negotiation -- but as my hired representative isn't that HIS JOB??? At the hourly rate an attorney is being paid, paying attention to details and appropriately representing me as his client should be the highest priority. I hoped to have an expert in my corner, but I got nothing close. Find an attorney that is loyal and has your best interests in mind.

As a former Law Enforcement Officer, I have had many years of interaction with attorneys. James sets the bar at the highest level. His level of knowledge of family law is outstanding along with his courtroom demeanor. Between James and his Paralegal, Rhonda, I was never in the dark about the progr...ess of my case. James does NOT practice "motion practice" in an attempt to nickel and dime your account. He works the case as needed to win for you, the client, not for himself. As a result of what James did, I was able to get my full parenting rights re-instated. I would highly recommend James if you want a truly knowledgeable, professional attorney.

James Cork represented me from start to finish in my divorce case. I had initially gone to Fromm Smith and Gadow for an initial consultation with Jennifer Gadow. Both Mr. Cork and Ms. Gadow were at the consultation, and I was given the choice at the end of the meeting to hire Mr. Cork, who has less... years’ experience, but whose fees were significantly lower. I was hesitant, since it was Ms. Gadow I had been referred to by a friend; but I knew I could not afford her, so I went with Mr. Cork. It was absolutely the right decision. Mr. Cork is highly intelligent, professional, and to the point. He is very ethical, as is the whole firm that he works at. Be prepared to give the whole and full truth at the consultation. This may seem obvious, but their ethical standard is very high. This is in stark contrast to my ex-husband’s attorney, who not only seemed to put up with my ex-husband’s lies, but seemed to knowingly lie herself in hopes of aiding their case. It didn’t help them and ended up biting them in the end. Mr. Cork gave me constructive criticism on a few occasions. I didn’t like it at the times, but not only did I need it, it proved to be to my benefit. In hindsight, all of his advice was spot on. I quickly found that I was able to leave everything in his hands and it would be taken care of. Mr. Cork was extremely good at filtering everything that I gave to him (as far as evidence and information via email), and picking out what was and was not important. He was precise and skilled at the trial, both in direct and cross-examination. He was able to uncover the truth (and the lies) without divulging into random questions (as my ex-husband’s attorney seemed to do). He was coherent and concise. To my amazement, he seemed to remember all of the small details that I had told him over the past several months. He made all of his points very well and did not deviate from what was relevant. The judge ultimately ruled in my favor a couple of weeks later; but either way, I left the courtroom knowing that I had received absolutely the best representation I could have received. The ruling was the icing on the cake. I also knew that I was in good hands throughout the entire process. The fees turned out to be surprisingly low, given the vast amount of work that was done on my case. I would highly recommend Mr. Cork and will recommend him to any family or friends that may need him in the future.
