When I learned that my father, 87 years old, incapacitated by advanced Alzheimer’s disease, and under the direction of his “new” wife, 19 years his junior, had made changes to his will/trust to disinherit his entire family (5 daughters and 5 grandchildren), I knew I needed expert help. I spent two weeks researching Trust/Probate attorneys online. I selected Kent Berk because of the excellent client and peer reviews I read. Copious peer reviews rated him 5/5 on legal knowledge, analytical capacity, judgement, communication and legal experience. Comments from peers such as “fair but formidable opponent and conservative ethical standards” were very impressive; and are indeed, very accurate. Abundant client reviews mentioned qualities such as: “compassion, high efficiency, sincerity, caring, superior knowledge, assertiveness, aggressiveness, fierce/relentless/strong/dedicated/zealous advocacy, creativity, accessibility, cost effectiveness, fees that are very fair, very thorough, no details left uncovered, real working knowledge of how things happen in probate cases, skillful, concern for his client, listening to his clients, keen sense for strategic planning and tactical execution, unfailing courtesy, committed, prompt, ethics and honesty are above reproach.” It sounded too good to be true. My actual experience with Kent and his team, from the first moment I spoke with him, confirmed that everything I had read was spot on. I knew immediately, by the way he answered questions, that he was someone I could trust. Our opposing counsel, on the other hand, consistently displayed incompetent, unprofessional and unethical behavior. In addition, he was a nasty piece of work, never missing an opportunity to insult, slander and outright lie. Kent remained courteous at all times. And then, Kent made mincemeat of his arguments, where it counted, in documentation and in front of the Commissioner and the Judge in court. Kent and his team delivered an excellent outcome. In addition to being the consummate professional of the highest integrity, Kent is also a compassionate, kind, patient and truly decent human being. My Dad became very ill and passed away during this time. I was blessed to have Kent’s support, both professionally and emotionally, during a very trying period. I cannot recommend him highly enough, and would hire him again without reservation.
