Disability not obtained

I was denied disability and hired Mr. Ober to handle my appeal. I waited 15 months to even get a hearing. The paralegal assigned to my case did not listen to me and consider all aspects of my case. They focused on only the Migraine aspect of my case and not the big picture. I believe I could've won m...y case based on my SMI determination alone, but they refused to listen to my explanation of disabling conditions. I was provided an inexperienced representative for my appeal hearing. When I was again denied in my Administrative Law hearing, I received a letter in the mail stating that my representative no longer worked for their firm, but that they would ask for a review of the ALJ's decision. When I would call to update them on continued medical care I was made to feel as though I was a bother to the paralegal handling my case. Not to mention having to play telephone tag for sometimes days before contacting them. When I was denied a review of the ALJ's decision I was again reminded that Mrs. Sara Fern no longer worked for their firm and that they were closing my case as not won. I have fought for 3 years (most of which being a waiting game) and have nothing to show for it. I was told to file a new claim. I would never hire them again.

Relationship: Worked for lawyer

"I had my own firm for fifteen years, when Ed and I first discussed joining his firm. Naturally, giving up the independence that comes with one's own practice is not a step taken lightly. I hold myself to very high professional and ethical standards and would not join a firm that does not meet those standards. And, of course, I want to work in a collegial atmosphere with attorneys and staff, who put clients' interests first and work cooperatively. I need not have been concerned. Ed and his partner Jeremy Pekas are extremely competent and demonstrate the highest level of ethics. The staff is warm and friendly and provide outstanding advocacy for their clients. This is a reflection of Ed's leadership and guidance. I am coming up on a year at the firm and can endorse Ed without reservation."

Relationship: Worked for lawyer

"In 2013, I began working for Ed. Prior to working for Ed, I was a solo practitioner with a boutique firm. Given the autonomy I enjoyed, I was cautiously optimistic about taking down my shingle. It has now been over three years, and I can say without hesitation that it is the best decision I've ever made. First, Ed loves the law and genuinely cares about helping disabled individuals. The Firm is part of a great opus in which Ed has dedicated a significant part of his life to being in the service of others. It's a privilege to share his dream. Second, Ed is a talented manager and leader. He cares about his staff and generously shows compassion and appreciation on a day-to-day basis, as well as on a greater management level. Third, Ed is an institution when it comes to Social Security. His knowledge is unparalleled, and he offers his knowledge freely to others. Based on my firsthand experience, I unreservedly recommend Ed. He has earned my immense respect and admiration."
