I am a very passionate advocate. I bring a unique vantage point to my practice, combining a background in family law, negotiation, finance, and mediation.
I was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. I graduated from Penn State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and received a Juris Doctor from Rutgers Law School-Newark. While a law student, I completed a conflict management concentration focusing on negotiation, mediation, alternative dispute resolution and arbitration. While in law school, I completed a Federal Judicial Externship with Honorable Ronald J. Hedges and was a Mediator for the Division of Consumer Affairs.
I spent two years as an associate for a wall street bank, Goldman Sachs, managing International Swaps and Derivatives Association Agreements. I completed 64 credits through Goldman Sachs University, including corporate negotiation.
After going through the divorce process myself over two decades ago, I knew that this is what I wanted to do for the rest of my life.....help people start their lives over. I left the corporate world and began my family law career working for a small firm in Hackensack, New Jersey where I litigated divorce cases before New Jersey Superior Court Justices in 11 counties. In November of 2007, I opened the doors to the Law Office of Amanda Mays in Princeton, New Jersey. The firm was dedicated to 100% family law, including cases involving divorce, custody, complicated distributions of businesses and financial products requiring forensic accountings and valuations, domestic and international kidnappings, and enforcement issues. I have practi
In early 2011, I packed my bags and moved to Chandler, Arizona with my family.
I am licensed to practice law in Arizona and a member of the Arizona State Bar Association, and the Maricopa County Bar Association. I completed a 40-hour Mediation Training course administered by the Arizona Office of the Attorney General, in partnership with the Arizona Supreme Court's AOC.
I live in Chandler, Arizona and enjoy traveling, day trading and photography. My husband, Khalif, is a Sr. Human Resources Business Partner. We have two adult children, Ty (22) and Rayna (19.)

Knowledgeable and compassionate
Amanda took the time to really learn about me and my situation during our first meeting to discuss my divorce proceedings. She made some great suggestions and was not insistent that I stick with only her ideas when I wanted some modifications. Amanda has a direct, honest and compassionate manner that...

I Recommend Amanda Mays for Family Law
I just went through what should have been a relatively simple divorce, and therefore did not have an attorney. My ex did hire an attorney and, after the process dragged on and on for months without resolution, I decided to seek some legal help to try to reach a settlement. Amanda was extremely helpfu...

Run the other way!
I used her as my divorce attorney in NJ a few years back. I hired her to fix my child support right away because the way it was calculated on my temporary order was wrong. She kept staling telling me that in 3 months we would fix it at the attorney review panel. I paid her a flat fee and so she was...
I am very sorry that you weren't happy with the work I did for you in July 2009. I was hired in the middle of your divorce process for the sole purpose of attending a settlement conference and settling the case after you fired your previous attorney. You did not want this matter to go to trial. A settlement was reached after many hours of negotiation. At the time, you believed the agreement to be fair under all circumstances and a better alternative than going to trial on the outstanding issues. An agreement was read onto the record so the court would vacate the upcoming trial. You testified before Judge Michael Toto that you believed the agreement was fair and reasonable. Child support was to be recalculated. The parties did not enter into a written agreement, as had been ordered, and enforcement of the terms read onto the record needed to be pursued.

"Amanda is my sister and my business partner. She introduced me to family law when we began our practice together several years ago, and continues to be an excellent resource when challenges arise, or when looking to simply brainstorm. Amanda cares immensely about her clients, which is evidenced by the way she advocates on their behalf. I fully endorse Amanda as a family law attorney."
