Truthful, realistic advice

I had the unfortunate need for a divorce attorney way back in 2001. I was directed to Mr. Miller by an acquaintance. When the divorce was final I did not get everything I wanted - but that's not the point. Mr. Miller was honest and upfront about the situation, and he handled my case extremely well. D...ivorce sucks, so nobody is ever truly happy. But, I felt that I was well-represented - enough so that I hired him again for a child custody dispute a few years later. Finally, I had the misfortune of needing him for another divorce. Again, I was splendidly represented and he "out-lawyered" the ultra expensive opposing attorney so well that everything wound up in my favor. He knows the judges and what they want to hear. Frankly, I hope to hell that I'm not stupid enough to ever need him again, but I would not hesititate to hire him again.

major mistakes that cost me

Michael was my divorce lawyer and on the front end he seemed to really care but that didn't last long. For what I paid over the course of 10 months I believe I should have gotten better service. I would expect that as a divorce lawyer you would be the expert on these matters but when my ex-husband ...pulled a fast one that would have cost me thousands of dollars and i called Michael for advice he blamed me for not knowing that this should have been handled differently. That ended up being one of several mistakes, or decisions that I made based on his advice or lack of, that I now know an experienced divorce lawyer or one who cares would have caught.

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards

  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
