I grew up in Payson, Arizona and have made the Phoenix area my home since 2000. I attended the University of Arizona where I studied and received a B.S. degree in Animal Sciences in 1993, and was named Outstanding Senior by the Department of Animal Sciences.
After receiving my undergraduate degree, I studied both ruminant nutrition and reproductive physiology at the graduate level before leaving the University to work as a herdsman on dairies in Arizona and Hawaii. In 1997 I enrolled in law school at the University of Arizona. I excelled academically in law school, finishing 15th in my class and being selected to the Arizona Law Review, where I served as an Articles Editor.
Upon graduation from law school in 2000, I began work as a litigation associate at Lewis and Roca, LLP in Phoenix. In 2004 I left Lewis and Roca, LLP to form my own firm. My goal then was to provide cost-effective legal representation to businesses and individuals combined with a level of hands-on service that is not always possible at larger firms. That remains my goal today.
Throughout the years, including while I have been actively practicing law, I have also worked for and managed construction and agricultural businesses. As a result, I have exceptional knowledge of both the construction and agricultural communities at a "ground" level. This experience and knowledge provides me with an advantage in dealing with construction and agricultural law issues.
In addition, my scientific background sets me apart from most attorneys in both my basic thinking model as well as my approach in all areas of representation.

Relationship: Fellow lawyer in community
Stephen is a skilled and effective attorney. I would recommend his services to anyone.
Jim Bearden, Litigation Attorney on Sep 1, 2011
Relationship: Worked together on matter
I frequently am hired as local counsel from out of state defendants. This requires dealing with counsel that have the obligation to deal with the client and assist with the litigation. This creates a difficult task to the out of state lawyer, because he or she is not familiar with the law in Texas, yet, has to explain and counsel the client. Stephen is a master at both. His grasp of the issues, out of state law, and litigation strategy were as good or better than any Texas lawyer or out of state lawyer I have ever worked with. I cannot be more emphatic how much I endorse this lawyer.
