Laura Gillis

I want to be clear, that from what I can tell I really just paid her to have meetings and keep my case from moving to another court room. It cost me north of $11,000 dollars and I ended up handling everything by myself. I would get charged for meetings between her and her Paralegal and in one case, I... got charged for a return to sender email. Since both I and my ex-wife wanted to settle, the purpose for her was really just to make sure that I wasn't getting screwed and she just kept draining my deposits with no like, real assistance. The worst part is, it seems that I was charged for services not rendered because once I let her go, papers I gave her to file, were not filed. I had a meeting with her over the phone, and she was eating dinner with her kids which was like, "okay...?" I just honeslty never felt like my case actually mattered to her... My ex took my kids out of state in violation of our court order, when I spoke to attorney Gillis about it, she said the judge wouldn't care. When I asked another attorney, HE said the judge would have cared because a violation of a court order, is a VIOLATION of a court order! So, I don't know... Just consider all options before hiring her because her and the Sampair Group are a risk... I honestly don't know why I was given bad advice or pushed to the side...

Hiring Ms. Gillis to represent me in my divorce case from the very beginning of the process was the biggest mistake I ever made. Her poor representation let to a terrible for me outcomes. And now, 4 years later I am still fighting in court for my children, the oldest of which had been estranged f...rom me for 2 years now. My case was messed up so badly from the very beginning, and I wish Ms. Gillis had told me that she will not be able to represent me rather than get me in the position that I am right now. Ms. Gillis was extremely disorganised, for a period of a year and a half she changed several assistants, but, the worst of all was that she showed no interest in fighting for my better position as her client. As a result, the judge ordered 4 stages custody process with the maximum time that I was able to have with my children was every other weekend, only 10 % parenting time. Considering that I do not have mental illness, no drugs or alcohol use ever , no violence, clean driving record, high education, and I am working for a prestigious company… After this outcome, I hired a several attorneys to review my case, and the conclusion why I have got this terrible for me outcome was a poor attorney’s representation, and that left severe scars in my life, it took years of memories with my children. Yes, I wish, I had never hired Ms. Gillis.

She is extremely knowledgeable, prompt and always does the absolute best for her clients. Presented herself as caring, compassionate, and dedicated. I hired her 3 yrs ago for my divorce case. Mistake! My ratings: Filed my documents in a binder= A ( too many requested documents from me that she never reviewed- just filed. ) ; Knowledgable about my case= C; Defended me during face to face ...meeting with x-spouse and lawyers= F. To make the long sorry short, she sided with the other party just to finish the case ( because she was paid in advance.)

Laura is the best! She was extremely knowledgeable, easy to communicate with, prompt in returning phone calls and emails. Ex-spouse was requesting unreasonable parenting time and spousal maintenance, Laura quickly shut that down and negotiated hard and fairly until trial which we won in court as well.... The judge seemed to know and respect her opinion. Her fee is very reasonable for her worth and I wouldn’t have been able to get through this difficult time without her. Thank you Laura!
