Alden is a partner in Jaburg Wilk's Employment, Insurance, and Education Law groups. Alden’s practice is multifaceted as she advises both employees and employers along with insurance carriers and their insureds. Alden also defends students and educators facing disciplinary proceedings and assists university students with petitions to change their residency classifications and appeals of denied petitions. Her wide array of experience affords her unique insight into how to best protect her clients’ interests.
Before joining Jaburg Wilk, Alden worked for a national law firm, where she practiced primarily in the areas of insurance coverage and civil litigation. After graduating from law school, Alden completed a year-long clerkship with Judge Patricia Orozco at the Arizona Court of Appeals. While clerking, Alden gained invaluable insight into the judicial process and how to effectively persuade judges in written briefs and during oral arguments. She also drafted dozens of appellate opinions and decisions in complex civil, criminal and juvenile matters.
Alden enjoys giving back to the community and has coached multiple undergraduate and law school moot court teams. In 2017, the ASU Law Moot Court Board named her the Coach of the Year after her Representation in Mediation team placed third at the ABA’s national competition. Alden won the national championship as a competitor in law school.
Employment
Alden advises employees and employers in a wide array of issues, including state and federal wage and hour, discrimination, wrongful termination, harassment, and whistle blower laws. Alden also helps her clients navigate complex employment contract disputes, including disputes concerning the enforceability of non-compete and non-solicitation agreements. Alden has negotiated numerous favorable settlements on behalf of her clients both pre and post litigation.
Insurance
Alden has extensive experiencing advising insurance carriers and their insureds on insurance coverage and bad faith issues, including representing parties in disputes arising from commercial general liability, auto, homeowners, umbrella and professional liability policies. Alden has secured multiple victories for her clients in both state and federal courts.
Education
Alden represents students and educators accused of violating academic polices, including clients accused of honor code violations and plagiarism. She also assists public university students with petitions and appeals to change their residency status, assisting out-of-state students earn the right to pay in-state tuition.
