If you're looking for results this is not your guy

As an attorney myself, I ended up doing most of the work and drafting of documents since David has zero attention to detail, forgot what we had discussed/agreed on etc., with David "reviewing" said documents then over-billing me for work performed. He told me that all of the docs would be filed by ea...rly October but I never even saw his draft until the middle of November and they were completely inadequate. I paid him a 5k retainer for what was essentially an amicable paternity/child custody/child support issue and 4 months later we are still at square one but he has blown through the 5k. His paralegal and assistant appear to do most of his work; he is not timely in responding to inquiries or does not respond at all; every time I needed to speak with him or he spoke to opposing counsel I would have to schedule a time to speak with him, generally at least 3 days out and each time he was to call me he was 15-30 minutes late on calling me and once failed to call me at all. He is not aggressive with opposing counsel and appears to want to take the path of least resistance when push comes to shove.

No worth the money

While David is an incredibly nice person, I do not believe that he did what he was supposed to do for myself and my child as clients. The things I asked for from the very beginning where never done. He never got me an accurate AFI from my son's father. My initial request is for him to do whatever w...as necessary to get arrears from my son's father from 2004. He never did the paperwork necessary. Over $24,000 in fees and absolutely nothing that I could have accomplished on my own. I started questioning what was happening from 2005 and 2006 when I had used him with friends who were lawyers and they told me that he should be getting the AFI's, that since my ex was lying on his income, that his wife's could be considered I have since found out. I did need him to help me with one other issue and he made agreements with someone who had falsely accused me of harassment. The person blatantly lied on a harassment charge and David entered into agreements that would have me agreeing to what was filed. The guy who filed it eventually admitted to me he lied to please someone else he was in trouble with and that he was sorry. The thing is, I look at it as a reflection on my character and a no time did I ever do anything to threaten or harass anyone. David had a document prepared for me to sign and I refused. As my lawyer he should have been able to fight for what was in my best interest.

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
