I hired Barbara Melendez to take on my ongoing case for DACA and from day one she was 100% honest about the situation I was in and she did tell me my case was complex and that I was going to need as much help as possible including a miracle due to my criminal record from prior years. I did feel like ...I was in the right hands right away because not all lawyers tell you things exactly they are and Barbara talked to me about the problems I was facing and how we would fight them even before bringing up how much it was going to cost me. That made me feel like she cared a lot more about her clients than how much she charges so I at that point I was very happy I found her and hired her. I was still afraid something was going to go wrong due to the fact that reducing some of my criminal charges in order to qualify for DACA was getting way too complicated but Barbara and her professional staff were always there for me fighting with everything they had. They always responded to my calls and emails right away, I never had to wait for an answer because they always answered my questions within minutes of contacting them. Every time I went to my hearings I never felt scared being there because I trusted Barbara's professionalism and I knew when they told me how court was going to go and what was going to happen it was exactly how it was going to go! Barbara helped me to get temporary green card, permanent green card, and than citizenship since my marriage. Her knowledge and experience made this process as easy as possible for me. She was always ready to answer my multiple questions and to be present on interviews when I felt her help would be ne...eded. I would definitely recommend her to everybody going through Naturalization process.

We hired Barbara last year to help us through the K1 visa process, and it was a terrible experience. Throughout the process, the unprofessional behavior and inattention to detail displayed by Barbara and her staff was astounding. 1. One of the primary reasons we chose her was because she advertised... that she is fluent in Portuguese, but as far as I could tell, that was not the case. While she seemed familiar with the language, she never used it to clarify things that my fiancé had difficulty understanding in English. 2. Two of the questions in the I-129 form were not answered by her office in the original submission and were included in a request for evidence. 3. The final documents and instructions we received from her office listed the DOS number of a different person, I am assuming one of her other clients. 4. I reviewed the DS-160 before it was submitted and found multiple spelling errors and incorrectly entered information which had to be corrected. 5. The most damning mistake was made in our interview appointment request. Barbara’s office misspelled my fiancé’s surname, and then switched my fiancé’s given name and surname in the online appointment application. On the online form, it specifically states that any errors in the name will result in processing delays. My fiancé was questioned about the mistake during his interview at the consulate, and each time he spoke with a government representative thereafter. When I asked Barbara about it, she put the blame on the consulate, which she later acknowledged wasn’t true after being shown evidence that her staff had been at fault. Ironically, In Barbara’s message apologizing for the mistake made with my fiancé’s name, she referred to my fiancé several times as “Daniel”, which isn’t his name. These mistakes were unacceptable, and incredibly frustrating, given the thousands of dollars that we had invested in Barbara’s services. After receiving the visa, we obviously did not enlist her services for the green card process. Before the submission of the I-485, we consulted with another attorney, and it was at that moment that I realized just how terrible Barbara’s service had been. In just one $100 consultation with this other attorney, I felt a reassurance that I never once had during any of our interactions with Barbara. In summary, I would advise anyone who is considering hiring Barbara’s team to seek the second opinion of another immigration lawyer—I highly recommend Adam Crayk.
