We first made contact with Jake back in May of 2024 to help us in a custody case for my son. After interviewing multiple lawyers, we were most impressed with Jake’s determination, attitude, and professionalism. During the interview he took notes on our case and what we wanted as well as advised us... of what was most likely going to happen without sugar coating anything. He was the most upfront lawyer I have ever spoken with, which gave me more peace of mind then false hopes or empty promises. During the course of our case the opposing counsel frequently ignored emails, phone calls, and even standard procedures that Jake would submit in order to move the case forward. No matter how difficult it got Jake was there to help and reassure us. He knew every step and correct procedure to take and I never felt that we had forgotten anything. Whenever I had a concern about delays, no responses from opposing counsel or even just the overall cost of everything, Jake was there to help me and my family. In May we decided to attempt a settlement conference even though any attempt at mediation failed. During the conference Jake had my interests and concerns ready for the judge to hear as well as advised me without delay about potential settlements. Needless to say I felt more than comfortable with Jake by my side. By the end of it we were able to come to a settlement that insured my child would remain safe and home with us without the need to go to trial. We honestly never would have got to this without Jake and all the effort he brought. I would also like to add that Jennifer, Ann, Maren, and Misty all did amazing work helping with our case!

I've been fighting for custody of my children for years now. My children had expressed wanting to live with me and my ex refused to allow them to. I contacted HPK and Jake was assigned to my case. He was thorough and let me know upfront it wasn't going to be an easy or cheap case, but that i had a ca...se that was winnable. The end result was that my son was allowed to come live with me finally and my daughter chose to stay with her mom. We were able to get good results and a more equatiable custody arrangement. My children are happy with the results and so am I. Could not tell you how much I appreciate Jake's and the firms efforts and results.
