Wish I could give him a zero

Ray Chamberlain is a worthless non concerned attorney. Unless you have an easy case or lots of money he will do nothing for you. His staff is about as stupid as they come, lots of lip service no action. Wouldn't recommend him if my life depended on it

charged way too much

I hired Ray to represent me in my divorce. I was a stay at home mom for 18 years with 5 children and my husband was divorcing me because I would not let him move back home unless he quit drinking. I was very concerned with the children living with their dad for 50% of the time since he was an alcohol...ic. Ray got the court to appoint a child family investigator and said he was my best friend and that he would do an investigation and determine what was best for my kids. I paid the investigator 4500.00 dollars which my ex was responsible for half. Ray never made Dave (ex husband) pay his half but just kept billing me for email exchanges with my ex's attorney. He knew I had no money as my ex was not paying me anything and should have just stopped the ridiculous back and forth over silly things. When we finally went to court the judge threw out the investigation because of some grammatical errors. It was also very thick and Ray had not read it nor did he have the Dr who wrote it there to testify, which the judge wanted. I asked for 2 things- any support my ex husband owes my to be auto pay as he won't pay it and to keep my survivor benefit plan. Ray did neither and on top of the 4,500.00 I paid the family investigator, I paid Ray 12,000.00. He said i still owed him money and would not talk to me until I paid what I owed. The judge had said DFAS was to determine my portion of my husband's pension I should receive as Ray could not figure it and he would not help me to fill out the papers until I pay him more. As always my ex did not pay me and I could not pay him. I had to borrow money and hire another attorney to fix what he wrote incorrectly in the divorce papers. I paid 8,000.00 more to fix it. Now he is suing me for 10,000.00. I am totally not kidding- I have been working hard in nursing school and getting loans to pay off the second attorney. This is devastating. I would never not pay what I thought to be a fair amount, but I spent 16,500.00 on my divorce with Ray and he didn't even write it correctly or do anything I asked. I thought he was very unethical in the end. I should have reported him to the bar but it has been so overwhelming for me I can barely write about it. I would think twice unless you have a lot of money to waste with this guy.

So glad I switched lawyers and hired Ray!

I thoroughly enjoyed working with Ray and feel extremely fortunate to have discovered his legal services when I did. I had originally filed for divorce through the nation-wide law firm "Cordell & Cordell" and was extremely dissatisfied with their exhorbitant fees and severe lack of client care. Aft...er talking on the phone, I made the decision to switch to Ray as I found him much easier to relate to. He explained relevant legal processes in a practical way without dragging me through the weeds. Additionally, he wisely engineered a comprehensive legal strategy specifically designed for my case and executed it to perfection. He listened to my positions and was willing to represent me in a much more thorough manner than Cordell and Cordell. Certain aspects of my case were already generally pre-determined due to existing case law, but Ray fought for my position against long odds anyway which really made me feel like he was on my team. Ray is an experienced lawyer in family law and previously had a stellar career reaching the pinnacle of the milary legal environment as a senior Air Force JAG officer. The judge's final decision in my divorce case ended up being more favorable than anything I could have expected and the credit goes to Ray and his team of paralegals who prepared an impressive argument which held the day in court. I enthusiastically recommend Ray's legal expertise to any military personnel or civilian requiring family law needs. As the owner of his own firm, I think he has more of a vested interest in adequately representing his clients as best he can and I found his rates to be relatively affordable. Thanks again Ray! I feel very strongly that if I had stayed with my previous lawyer, there is no way my case would have turned out as well as it did with you!

Guided us through a very difficult process

Ray represented us during our relocation case. It was a very contentious case and the other party refused to cooperate. Ray led us through the process with professionalism and integrity and in the end we won full custody and were allowed to move with the kids. He genuinely cared about the well bei...ng of the kids and took the time to learn about them and their personalities. Even though at times we felt helpless and that there was no end in sight, Ray kept us on track and we came out on top.

Worst Attorney in Colorado Springs

Makes promises that he can't keep. Tells you that you have a solid case but $10,000 later the judge dismissed the case. Not only that, he made so many mistakes in the motions that he had to go back and re-write it and charged for his mistakes. Has the worst temper. Doesn't want you to ask questio...ns and if you do he will tell you he is the lawyer, not you. Pompous ass! Here is he worst part, he meets with you initially, is very nice and then doesn't want to meet. Beware!!!!!! I am sick with regret at the loss of money and the disrespect that Chamberland exhibited.
