James Stanley has over 35 years’ experience in criminal and DUI law. He has handled thousands of criminal cases and has conducted over 150 jury trials to verdict. Mr. Stanley is a former Colorado Senior Deputy District Attorney. This background and experience provides a unique ability to effectively evaluate the merits of a criminal case, detect defects in police investigations, recognize when an individual's constitutional rights have been violated, discover procedural errors and make the right decisions on how to handle the case. Mr. Stanley, with years of experience as a former senior prosecutor, has unique insight into what is involved with the decision-making process and analysis of a criminal prosecution. Assault Case in City of Wheat Ridge

Our son was charged with assault in the City of Wheat Ridge. My husband, son and I met with Mr. Stanley regarding the case, explaining all of the details with him. Our son was on edge initially, as he was scared and upset about the entire situation at hand. Mr. Stanley explained what his plans were o...n how to handle the case and advised our son to take some initial steps to help the overall outcome of the case, which our son did. Mr. Stanley kept us apprised of everything that was going on, from continuances to any conversations that he had with the City Attorney. My son's case ended up being continued a couple of times. After the first continuance, Mr. Stanley advised us that he was able to reduce the charge to harassment. He then contacted the officer involved in the case, talked to him along with the other person involved (who was also charged in the case). Mr. Stanley was able to obtain pertinent body cam footage that helped our case. When our court date arrived, Mr. Stanley met with us at the courthouse and put our minds at ease that he was going to get us the best outcome possible. After meeting again with the City Attorney and the other person involved in the case, Mr. Stanley talked to my son and put him at ease about the outcome. The Judge dismissed my son's case completely and agreed to have the record sealed that day! We were very nervous going into the courtroom. We have never been through anything like this and don't know what we would have done had we not hired Mr. Stanley to represent our son. He truly went above and beyond our expectations and got the best outcome we could have asked for. When we initially met with Mr. Stanley, he asked our son if he liked to read, which he does. He said he was going to bring our son a book the next time they saw each other. After we left the courtroom, Mr. Stanley gave our son a book that he had promised that he was going to give him to read. Again, going above and beyond for his clients. We couldn't have asked for a better attorney to work with and to help us get through a difficult situation. We are forever grateful to Jim Stanley for everything he has done for us! If you need an attorney, I would highly recommend Mr. James Stanley.

Case Dismissed! So thankful!

Thanks to Mr. Stanley, my DUI case was dismissed! James did his research and truly helped me out. He submitted a lengthy written argument to the prosecutor, supported by exhibits, photos and video stating why my case should be dismissed. James used his expertise as a lawyer and former DA to win my c...ase (via dismissal) and saved my drivers license and me from further DUI costs such as interlock installation, SR-22 insurance and probation. I am so grateful. Thank you, James.

Great

Hired Jim for a DUI, criminal mischief and hit and run in Jefferson county. He's very familiar with jeffco. Great advice that helped my case. Criminal charges were dropped. Clear no nonsense lawyer that made this process less stressful. Highly recommended

** AMAZING MAN, AMAZING LAWYER, AMAZING OUTCOME ** HIRE THIS GUY!!

Wow, where do I start? Jim is an amazing human being and an EXCELLENT Attorney. I hired Jim to represent my adult Son who was charged with three Felony Trespass and and a Theft violation. Jim was very thoughtful in assessing the situation, asking questions, and determining that my Son was not a "b...ad guy" but rather an immature young man who made a seriously bad choice to enter some unlocked vehicles and take minor items. Jim was able to negotiate a deferred judgement down to ONLY one Felony, subject to completing 2 years of supervised probation in the Jeffco Diversion Program, for first time offenders. This means that after successfully completing the 2 years of supervision, my Son can request the Courts seal this record as if it did not occur!! Unfortunately, only two weeks following the judgement on this case, my Son made yet another bad decision and was charged with a DUI. Jim's advise to my Son was spot on and paved the way for Jim to negotiate with the DA and Diversion to retain supervision within the Diversion Program and the deferred judgement on the Felony charge, with a plea to DWAI. At times, I questioned if my Son was going to put forth the effort needed to create the ideal situation and outcome but Jim (God Bless him!!) pushed my Son like a Father would and was able to light a fire under him to do his absolute best to redirect himself on to a better path. Jim spent a lot of time collecting letters from family and close friends and documentation of areas of completion and success that my Son was achieving in the Program. He then wrote many letters to the DA's and Diversion updating them on his progress and imploring with them to consider his prior clean record and progress within the Program to allow him to remain in the Diversion Program with the original deferred judgement. Throughout this long process, Jim was very communicative and always made himself available to answer our questions and give us more direction when we needed it. He even gave us reminders before every court date. I can't thank Jim enough for the miracle outcome that he was able to obtain for my Son! I highly recommend Jim, you will not be disappointed, he is a consummate Professional and a very caring human being.

Phenomenal lawyer, and even greater man

Words cannot express how truly pleased I am after working with Jim. I came to him with a DUI charge and after months of tireless, detailed work, Jim was able to get the charges down to reckless driving—an extremely rare outcome in Jefferson County. When all this started, it was important to me to ...hire an attorney who saw me not just as another paycheck, but as an individual with a unique case. I had called several other attorneys, but it was only after speaking with James that I felt seen and heard. He asked very detailed questions, and I never felt judged for bringing an unfortunate situation to him—it truly felt like he wanted to help me and that he saw me as more than my charges. When we first spoke, he told me he couldn't guarantee a win, but he could guarantee the best possible outcome. It was this sentiment that really made me want to work with him; he said promising a guaranteed win was a truly immoral thing to say to a client; despite all his accolades and years of experience, it was that sentiment that solidified him as a good man. How true his sentiment was. I firmly believe I couldn't have gotten the outcome I did without Jim. He was there for me every step of the way and constantly kept me updated with what he was doing and the status of my case. He repeatedly kept in contact with the prosecutor assigned to my case, he cross-examined the police officer during one hearing so well that he was able to catch the officer in a lie and as a result kept repeatedly contacting police supervisors over such deception. Everything he did was integral to the outcome—he left no detail unexamined, and he did it all with humility and confidence and great great care. I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending James Stanley to others. He is a phenomenally talented lawyer and an even greater man. I am so so thankful for the outcome—I will never be able to fully express my gratitude for his work.
