Guiding Light During My Darkest Hour

Although the circumstances of my needing a divorce attorney were one of the hardest and most unexpected life changes I have ever gone through, I feel truly lucky and beyond grateful to have found Todd and his firm. From my first phone call where I had to hang up because I was crying so hard and could...n't speak, everyone from the receptionist to all of the legal assistants, paralegals, and Todd made me feel like they legitimately cared about me as a person. They lifted me on the days when I didn't think I could make it through, gently guided me to make decisions that were best for me, and allowed me to see that I am stronger than I ever knew possible. At the darkest time in my life, Todd and his entire team made the process as easy as possible for me. He was kind, he listened and went out of his way to even suggest a counselor for me to see when he could see I was struggling. When there was a time conflict with one of my appointments with him, he even met with me on a weekend. The communication was always prompt, and warm, and I felt completely taken care of throughout the process. Todd's kindness is matched equally by his knowledge of the law and his tenacity, and that is also reflected by every single person I dealt with.

Not recommeded

Todd Stahly and his associate Brittany Frisbie were engaged to represent me in a family court case for additional parenting time. During the 8 months of their engagement, I paid them $11,000 in fees. In exchange, the only substantive step they managed to advance for my case was to file a motion for... the appointment of a CFI. I was advised by both Todd and Brittany to pursue discovery. The opposing party, who was per se, was able to easily deflect the motion, and Stahly and Co then advised me to dismiss the motion after I had spent thousands of dollars in fees. Subsequently, they billed me hundreds of dollars for a letter explaining an issue in my case that could have been addressed with me in a 10-minute phone call. When I called to discuss my concerns with their billing and communication practices, neither Todd or Brittany had the integrity to pick up the phone and discuss my frustrations with their representation.

Absolutely Recommend

I could not be happier with this firm. Todd, his associates, and support staff were extremely helpful, communicative, and supportive throughout the entire divorce process. Todd was WELL worth the cost because it was extremely prepared for any potential issues that may arise throughout the process.... The initial consultation with Todd was an hour long, and free. We sat down and he prepared a list of all documents I need for the initial status conference. In addition to preparation for the status conference, he provided me with “worst case scenario” documents I needed to collect in preparation for a trial. I wasn’t even aware that divorce hearings could go to trial, so having his guidance through what that process looks like and how to prepare was necessary and extremely beneficial. My case did not go to trial, however, I felt safer having everything prepped and ready in the event it did. I cannot stress enough how on-top of things this firm is. I was taken care of very well, communication was excellent with all staff members of this firm, and I felt confident throughout the entire process. I prefer email communication, and Todd/his firm were great with responding to all my emails promptly and thoroughly. I would highly recommend using this firm to help anyone through the trying times of a divorce. Out of all the consultations I did, Todd was by far the most understanding, kind, and prepared attorney.

Highly Recommended

Todd and his team were really great to work with through my divorce, I found the whole team to be excellent. Todd took over from my first lawyer who had missed one of the first deadlines and was allowing my now ex-spouse to send threatening emails and to not move out of the house. Todd got me caugh...t up, put an end to the petty emails within the first week and got us in separate houses soon after and kept records of everything to use in mediation and the court documents he filed. I came away from a very contentious divorce and highly difficult ex-spouse able to buy my own house, credit debt paid off, retirement money and parenting plan in place. Also, Todd is an excellent communicator, both verbal and written which is not the first thing you may look for, but those skills are vital and it is key to have well written communication and documents and a well-spoken attorney who is well regarded in the court system through this process. I felt Todd and his team were very responsive, understanding and strategic. I recommend Stahly LLC and would hire them again. In response to some other reviews: Yes, you have to pay for his service - it is worth it and he tries to limit the expenses by having junior team members do some tasks with his direction. Todd remains very professional during a very difficult time in your life - you may be breaking down and freaking out, but he will be collecting the information of your circumstances and will try to monetize it in your favor through the settlement, which in the end is exactly what you'll want. Todd will try to steer you toward the best decisions which is difficult during such and emotional time. Yes, Todd tries to avoid court when possible so that he can remain in more control of the best outcome for you and keep expenses down. Also, you need to become part of the team too - you need to ask questions and make changes and discuss the strategy and direction. You can trust that he has your best interest in mind but if you are unsure, ask and insert yourself into the process to be as helpful as possible.

If I were getting divorced again, Todd would be my first call

Todd was co-counsel for me on what ended up being a very painful and drawn out divorce... but ultimately we prevailed on everything important. I don't plan to remarry or re-divorce, but if somehow this happened Todd would be my first call. Initially I screened Todd and went with another attorney w...ho was more expensive... I thought I was getting bigger guns. Big mistake. Todd can come off as Boulder-casual but he's actually a total pro--when my case was going sideways Todd was able to come in and turn it around. He did a fantastic job prepping me for depositions and testimony, and was fantastic in front of the court, an arbiter, and in depositions. Todd is someone you can rely on. He does what he says he's going to do when he says he's going to do it, and is a great thought partner and strategic mind in helping navigate big decisions on a case. He doesn't promise you the world in his sales pitch--which is good as you want someone to inject realism into your expectations.
