While the local county court initially ruled in my favor that the debt was no longer collectible, the creditor managed to convince the judge to reverse the ruling so they could continue garnishing my wages illegally. After all, the law was on our side. The problem was the judge didn’t know bankruptcy laws well and continued to incorrectly rule against us. Our case, which should have been a quick one, took nearly six months but Matt preserved and never gave up. I will admit, there were times when I thought, “What if they still rule against us?” Whenever that happened, I would reread the filings Matt filed and they were facts, facts, facts and straight to the point. Our case eventually moved to both the Bankruptcy and District courts, and fortunately the creditor agreed to settle outside the court before proceeding further in the case.
