Joshua Thomas Nowak

Joshua Nowak is a trusted trial and criminal defense attorney at McDermott Stuart & Ward LLP in Colorado. Having earned his juris doctor degree and a certificate in Constitutional Rights and Remedies from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law in 2016, Mr. Nowak has gained varied and invaluable legal experience throughout his career thus far that enables him to provide world-class representation to Colorado residents who have been accused of crimes. During law school, Mr. Nowak worked with the Greeley, Boulder, and Denver Offices of the Colorado State Public Defender and interned with the Honorable Judge Nancy Lichtenstein at the Colorado Court of Appeals.

Mr. Nowak’s post-law school career began with the Brighton Office of the Colorado State Public Defender. There, he secured favorable results for countless clients and participated in nearly 50 jury trials. He was quickly promoted to a Senior Deputy State Public Defender position. In this new position, he also worked as the Intern Supervisor, which enabled him to train law students who hoped to work with public defenders’ offices across the United States.

A current board member for Adams Broomfield Bar Association, Mr. Nowak’s accolades include receiving the “Young Attorney of the Year” award from the Adams Broomfield Bar Association, recognition as “Outstanding County Court Lawyer of the Year” from his colleagues, and numerous leadership awards in law school.
