Growing up in Oklahoma, I was frequently invovled with children and education. Apart from the usual babysitting, I was also very involved helping with my mother's first grade classroom. I attended Booker T. Washington High School, which is a nationally recognized magnet school. After graduation, I attended the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, New Mexico. I received a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology with an associated minor in Philosophy from UNM. I began attending the University of Denver College of Law in 2000, from which I received my Juris Doctorate in 2003.
I did not take the traditional path to becoming an attorney, however. After graduating from the University of Denver I moved to Dillon, Colorado. Prior to becoming a dedicated family law attorney, I was a children's snowboard instructor for Breckenridge Ski Resort for four years. I returned to Denver in 2008 to briefly work for a personal injury firm. I did not find that personal injury was a good fit for me. I began doing intern work for Colorado Legal Services/Metro Volunteer Lawyers in 2009. This is where I received my introduction to family law. I began working for myself in 2010 and have not looked back.
I truly am dedicated to helping people through their divorces, custody issues and all other aspects that involve family law. The cases are seldom easy from an emotional standpoint. Being a mother, myself, to three young children I understand the heartache that can result from having to share custody of your children. However, I also understand the importance of having both parents being invloved in the children's lives. I offer caring and zealous representation and promise to never stop doing my very best for Colorado families.

Not reliable and ineffective as an attorney
I hired Colleen for a divorce, and during the initial consultation I was told everything I wanted to hear in order for her to get my retainer, then it all went downhill from there. I do not think it is ethical for attorneys to make false promises to clients, and have no accountability for poor perfo...
To be clear, I do not make promises to clients concerning outcomes so that statement is 100% false. Any client who has had a consultation with me knows that I absolutely point out the weaknesses in the case and run through possible scenarios concerning what could go wrong so we can determine how to prepare for it. Additionally, I have not had in person meetings with clients since February of 2020. So it is not clear when it was that I was late to "arranged meetings" with this person who chooses to remain anonymous. Concerning "going into hearings being unprepared", this is also a lie. I spend hours prepping clients and witnesses before hearings. Hours. I even give time on the weekend if we have a hearing coming up. I spend time reviewing all of our exhibits again and again with the client and going over the purpose of each exhibit as well as reviewing the other party's exhibits so we can try to figure out how the other party is going to use it against us. I also never "coerce" any client into doing anything. Based on the comment about me "not wanting to go to a full day hearing", I believe I know exactly who wrote this review. And if you recall, both the mediator and I gave you free services for the full day mediation we attended in order to reach that resolution. There was a sticking point for you that was very unlikely you would win. You stood to lose a lot more by going to a full day hearing, that I would have had to charge for due to the duration of the hearing and the preparation involved. There was no "complaining" about it. I was trying to help you. I'm sorry you still are not seeing that. I was trying to logically lay out for you the reality of the situation of your case as it was at that moment and counsel you on your best options. I was hoping that once your case was resolved you would be happy and be able to start fresh. I still wish that for you. Despite your negative and false review, I still wish you the best.
