He failed us
Harvey Skees absolutely failed us. He not only let down his client who was given the most severe sentencing there could be but he also would not interact with family members to help them understand the sentencing. He did absolute nothing positive for the case and we would have been better served repr...
Although this review is anonymous, I know exactly which client we are talking about. Long story short, before hiring me, this client violated almost every possible probationary rule they could: multiple times to the extent that even the diversion program had refused to deal with them. This client admitted to every single violation, and the result of the case had nothing to do with a representation. It had everything to do with the Judge that tried to work with the client for the last two years and was simply not willing to accept another excuse. How do you excuse 50+ violations! The lawyer only controls the effort, not the outcome. And in this instance, the client had already chosen the outcome based upon their actions prior to hiring the lawyer. So blaming the lawyer is the only excuse that they had left. The message from all of this? Hire a lawyer before you screw yourself repeatedly by not following through with court ordered requirements and then expect your lawyer to save your ass when you’ve continually violated it over months and years and then blame the lawyer for your failures.

Worse attorney I've ever had
He is a rude person only likes to email or text can't call his phone it goes straight to voicemail. Made me feel like he was working against me instead of for me. I had to do allot of my own foot work to get out of jail while he told me to stop trying to put in for programs. He basically in my eyes s...
Thank you for your review. I understand that COVID was a tough time for all of us and especially those that were incarcerated during COVID in that our ability to have face to face contact with clients was all but eliminated leaving only phone calls and texts and emails and virtual visits as options outside the courtroom. In Federal matters (such as this one) there were orders in place from a Federal Chief Judge that required us to deal "at a distance" with our clients which mirrored the policies of jails who had "no contact" policies in place and required that all attorney/client contact be scheduled and be conducted on unrecorded or monitored lines. However, and despite those limitations, and despite this client facing BOTH a Federal supervised release violation and new Federal drug conspiracy charges (as well as State charges regarding the same that were dismissed), we were still able to secure the release of this client via motion of the Court of which did not satisfy the client because he did not like the proposition and application of Federal sentencing guidelines that cannot be changed by any lawyer. Client elected to discharge our firm despite our inability to change the law. Which was his right and we wish him the best but he was promised and received excellent and aggressive and prepared representation but even the best attorney cannot change the facts or past actions of their client. Thank you.
"I endorse this lawyer. I have known Harvey for several years. In fact he worked with me at my law firm for a number of those years. As a result I know Harvey's work first hand. Harvey is extremely bright and very knowledgeable in the area's of DWI and Criminal law. He has the unique ability to come up with defenses that other lawyers don't even think of. He is also one of the most tenacious lawyers I know. He won't back off. Harvey doesn't just get the job done, he gets results. If the need arose, I would not hesitate to hire Harvey to represent me. I fully endorse Harvey."
"I endorse this lawyer. I have known Harvey for many years and know him to be a smart and zealous advocate on behalf of his clients. He is experienced and very well liked and respected in the legal community."
"I endorse this lawyer. Mr. Skees is one of the best DWI/DUI lawyers in Minnesota. His creativity and dedication to his clients is unsurpassed in the legal profession. Anyone charged with DWI would be wise to hire him to represent them."
