Grant is also a licensed real estate broker in North Dakota. Grant specializes in the areas of criminal law, personal injuries, and real estate law.
Grant has an impressive legal career as a former State’s Attorney, Special Assistant United States Attorney for North Dakota, Special Assistant United States Attorney for South Dakota, and Chief Prosecutor. After retiring as a prosecutor, Grant started his own law firm, Walker Law Firm, PLLC, and real estate firm, Genesis Realty, LLC.
Some of Grant’s notable accomplishments in his career are as follows: he was appointed by the United States Attorney General Eric Holder to the Federal Advisory Task Force on Research on Violence Against American Indian and Alaska Native Women; he was appointed by the South Dakota Governor to the Governor’s Council of Juvenile Services and Disproportionate Minority Confinement Committee; he was the United States Attorney’s Office 2014 Champion of Public Safety in Indian Country Award Recipient; he is a published author; he is a faculty member for the National Judicial College; and he is a faculty member for the Office of Justice Services Division of Tribal Justice Support.
Grant is a member in good standing of the South Dakota State Bar, North Dakota State Bar, Bar of the United States District Court for the District of North Dakota and the District of South Dakota, and the Bar of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe. Grant is a member of the Criminal Law Committee for the State Bar of South Dakota; member of the Native American Children’s Alliance; member of the Criminal Justice Advisory Committee for Sitting Bull College; and member of the Native American Children’s Alliance.
Grant was a former Vice Chairman of the South Dakota Tribal Attorney’s Association; former member of the South Dakota Tribal Juvenile Justice Advisory Group; former member of the Tribal Advisory Group for the University of New Mexico School of Law in collaboration with the American Indian Law Center, Inc.; former member of the South Dakota State’s Attorney’s Association; former member of the National District Attorney’s Association; former member of the Legislative Committee for the South Dakota State’s Attorney’s Association; former member of the Consolidation and Long-Range Planning Committee for the South Dakota State’s Attorney’s Association; and former Production Editor for the South Dakota Law Review, Volume 48.
