also known as Jeff Parras
A native West Texan, Jeff attended Angelo State University where he received his Bachelor of Business Administration degree in 1991, and later received his law degree from Texas Tech School of Law in 1994.
After spending a little over a year working in a law firm in Midland, Jeff opened a solo practice in Pecos in 1996, practicing primarily in criminal law and family law, as well as some general litigation. Jeff frequented and tried cases in a number of courts in Pecos, Monahans, Fort Stockton, Kermit, Marfa, and other small West Texas cities. In 1998, he joined the U.S. Attorney's Office in the Western District of Texas, Pecos Division. There he prosecuted controlled substance and immigration cases primarily, trying numerous cases to juries during that time. In early 2000, Jeff moved to the Midland Division office and continued his prosecution work in a variety of cases, including white collar fraud, money laundering, bank fraud, aggravated identity theft, mail fraud, child pornography, arson, carjacking, and others along with the continued work in drug trafficking conspiracy and immigration cases. Jeff was also selected and served as special prosecutor in the Northern District of Texas, Lubbock Division, to prosecute a Continuing Criminal Enterprise and methamphetamine conspiracy in 2003.
In November 2004, Jeff began serving a year-long stint as an advisor, primarily on controlled substance and immigration issues, at the Department of Justice in Washington, D.C. Upon his return to Midland, he continued his prosecution work, and also assisted as an instructor in Trial Advocacy, both at the National Advocacy Center, a facility in South Carolina operated by the Department of Justice to train prosecutors from all over the country, as well as at in-house training provided to newly-hired Assistant U.S. Attorneys in the Western District of Texas.
In early 2011, after more than 12 years as a federal prosecutor that included hundreds of cases and over 80 federal, felony jury trials, Jeff opened his current practice offering his legal expertise to clients in need of vigorous representation.
Our office handles cases in Midland County, Ector County, Ward County, Pecos County, Reeves County, Winkler County, Brewster County, Presidio County, Howard County, Crane County, Andrews County, Martin County, Upton County, and elsewhere in the State of Texas. Wonderful to work with
Very sharp lawyer. Tons of experience having worked with the prosecutor's office before going into private practice. He knew every inch of what we were up against.
"Jeff Parras is an outstanding attorney who is respected by attorneys and judges for his high quality legal representation. There are few attorneys who have tried as many jury trials as Jeff. If a family member of mine was in need of legal representation on a criminal matter I would send them his way."
"Jeff is a superb criminal defense attorney. He is very effective in the courtroom and is considered among the elite defense attorneys in West Texas."
