I truly hate attorneys. I have run businesses for 30 years and will do almost anything to avoid working with them. The one exception in all that time is Mark Avery and his team. He has handled several transactions for me including a very large one ending 15 years of work building a company for exit. ...He doesn't have tunnel vision and "get in the way" of getting a deal done, but rather understands the business side of things, can clearly explain the relative liability or risk of any legal paragraph, is competent and creative to find ways to cover the risk in a way the other side can agree to, and is strong enough to stand up to a Type A business person when they are about to make a poor decision on some aspect of a deal that really IS important. I have watched him go head to head with a lawyer who was as arrogant as the day is long and wow was he a master of winning using an understated communication method. He has such extensive experience in so many deals that he can see around corners you just cannot. He works extraordinarily hard and fast during crunch time and that always kept the ball in the other side's court. In the end his bill was the only attorney bill in 30 years I was happy to pay and also happened to be half what the other side paid. Not saying he was cheap, but his billing was fair and he was efficient with his time. That is all any customer really wants but seems lost on every other "billing machine" practice out there. I obviously recommend him in the highest terms!

I can't say enough about Mark. He was all of the things listed above - trustworthy, quick to respond, knows his stuff, and kept me informed with things regarding my business' circumstances.
