Dismissed!

Brian did not fail me. I got stuck with a felony, I really thought my life was over. He asked me what I wanted and I told him I really needed it to go away. Im stressing over it, loss my relationship, not to mention my future job possibilities. The state kept saying no to dismissing it, but Brian wou...ld not give up on me. Last Friday my case was dismissed!!! I am so happy, it is such a big relief!!! I highly recommend him.

Was There For Me

Mr. Bernard has helped me thus far with one case. And when another issue surfaced, there was no hesitation on who would be my legal council. I was served with a lawsuit on Monday night at 6:53, I called Brian's office at 7:20 and he promptly called me back at 7:34 pm. In my prior case there was a lot... of uncertainty on MY part, But Brian just relayed to me the TRUTH of what I was facing. So there were no surprises when it came down to dealing with the D.A. I have a vested interest in the life I lead so it is only on proven trust that I work with Mr. Bernard.

This is the worst lawyer in Austin

Brian Bernard was completely unprofessional. He exhorted money from my family when I was in custody promising to extricate me from jail and never came through. He addressed me by the wrong name at my bail reduction hearing, and showed up 15 minutes before it started with no remembered knowledge of my... case. At our first consultation, I brought transcripts, recorded calls, and evidence of lies told in the affidavit securing my arrest, and he said that "Texas only pays me a few hundred for this, a little more than a thousand if we go to trial. We're not filing a lot of motions." In fact the only motion filed in the case was made by me. Finally, he did not show up at a hearing, after telling me that because it was a misdemeanor charge only he needed to be present; my bond was subsequently revoked. Then he blamed me for not showing up, even though I was there every time he told me to be. After I called him a liar, he withdrew from my case (after taking $2500 from my family, which as a public defender, he is not allowed to do). He lies about his experience. He lies about his intentions. And when caught in the act he lies about what he has said or done, knowing that the credibility of a criminal defendant will always be sublimated by an officer of the court. Don't hire this man. And ask for a new attorney if he is assigned to you as a public defender; if he contacts you within 30 days of your incarceration, or doesn't reset your case at least 5 times if you're out on bond, you are one of the lucky ones.

What a Joke!

Brian Bernard is not someone you want on your side in a criminal case! Ive been going to pretrial for 8 months and he's never shown up to court until last month. I was rest for today. He sent his assistant and reset it again saying he was out of town..he text me 20 minutes latet saying im reset becau...se I didnt show up..I text him and said I was there at 7:45 and I know I was reset. He text back 3 hours later...saying im withdrawling as your attorney. I said I bet you are after that lie! He never once contacted me about my case..never returned my many phone calls and when I went to the office he refused to see me. The one time I txt him he txt back saying stop txting me! Your better off going to tdc! Cuz thats where he will put you anyway..I told him I wanted to fight my case and he said no!

Uncommunicative...Unaffected...Icy...Edgy

This lawyer communicates very poorly until the last minute. he enjoys practicing law, but does not enjoy the communication process required in dealing with criminal defendents. Brian is well dresses and well educated, but lacks skill in keeping you informed and enjoys meeting outside of the courtroo...m right before court ....rather than meeting in the office and being in the loop for what is going on. One gets the feeling Brian has too many clients and simply cannot give the service to the buisness he has to those he has accepted. Perhaps Mr Bernard would be better suited in some form of law where he did not have to deal with people such as tax law or something that requires only the issuance of contracts. In Texas, perhapys real estate law would be a better fit for this Ivy league educated lawyer. One thing he is not right for is the niche of criminal law. he does not like to deal with intense situations...and refuses to text, call or email you back. he has the keys to the kingdom and keeps them until the case is over and your fate which could have come out better is Therefore decided.
