A catastrophe

My experience with Mary Escamilla can be summed up by an email in which I said, "Please, please, please read the emails I send to you. I know that for you this is just another divorce, but for me it’s my life." Of course, I don't know if she ever read that email either. She was that unconcerned. My e...mails often went unread. Many times during our conversations I would say to her, "Didn't I send you an email about that." Then I would have to look it up and read it back to her. She didn't listen to my questions either. During one of our last conversations I twice asked her about some tax implications, and twice she answered with something totally unrelated, and I realized I was going to have to figure it out myself. But what's worse than all of that is that there's no evidence that she ever bothered to read the discovery documents, because she was completely unaware and unprepared for what they were going to throw at me. She seemed to spend most of her time worrying about nickel-and-dime credit card accounts. Ultimately, a catastrophe.

"Mary is exactly the sort of attorney you need if you have a family law problem. She has a great relationship with the judges and other attorneys, yet she knows when to be aggressive and stand up for clients. She is the best."

"Mary and I have had a few cases against each other. I'm always pleased to see her on the other side. The single greatest cost saving factor in a family law case is whether the or not the lawyers can get along. Mary is easy to get a long with while she is aggressively representing her clients. The Texas Supreme Court tell us in the Texas Lawyer's Creed to "disagree without being disagreeable" Mary is a good example of what the Supreme Court wants us lawyers to be."

"Mary goes above and beyond to ensure that her client's needs are met and her client's rights are brought to the attention of the Court. Her practice is marked by a relentless diligence to detail and dedication to doing the right thing. Above all else, Mary has all the makings of an opposing party's worst nightmare - she is professional, unyielding, and excellent. I highly recommend Mary to anyone seeking a family law attorney to handle their divorce or child custody case."

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
