Lenore Rae Shefman

I hired Lenore Shefman to represent me in a civil lawsuit as a Defendant. After payment of a retainer, this attorney did zero work on my case, quite literally. For example: She never filed a letter to represent with the court. Ever. She did, however, make some limited contact with opp...osing counsel, and as a result of that contact, the opposing counsel sent Shefman numerous filings and time sensitive legal documents, all of which Shefman completely ignored. It got so bad that the opposing counsel contacted me directly to inquire if I was actually represented, and advised me personally of a scheduled hearing on the matter. I showed up at the hearing and Shefman was a no-show. The judge asked me if I was represented because Shefman had filed nothing with the court saying so. The judge thought I was pro se. I requested and received a continuance so that I could find more suitable counsel. After the hearing no-show, I made repeated attempts to contact Shefman. She answered no phone calls, retuned no voice mails, and answered no emails. I requested a refund of my retainer in these numerous messages. I ended up filing a complaint with the Texas State Bar, for help in soliciting Shefman for the rightful refund. I explained that Shefman appeared to have rendered zero legal services. Only as a result of the complaint, weeks later, did I receive a 50% partial refund of my retainer via a personal check from Shefman. It is unclear to me why Shefman kept the other 50%. At some point after I received the partial refund from Shefman, Shefman sent me a nasty email complaining of my complaint to the Texas State Bar, and in this email she threatened legal action against me if I was to ever leave on online complaint about her, such as on Avvo. Within this same email she also advised me that I did not have attorney-client privilege. I was clueless on what prompted such an email. I would obviously not recommend Lenore Shefman to anyone at all.

I hope you are never injured in an accident as a motorcyclist, cyclist or pedestrian but if you are, you should call Lenore from the ambulance like I did. Lenore and her team were there for me, literally in the hospital with me and then in the months and months of fighting with insurance and provider...s. Lenore got blood out of turnips for me. She somehow settled hundreds of thousands in medical bills for the piddly amount of the driver's liability coverage and still managed to get me some money in my pocket to pay off the misc. debts associated with the accident. I have no idea what I would have done without Lenore and Cece and that whole team of compassionate pit bulls. They really do care about the victims they represent and make me believe justice is possible.

I cannot say enough good things about my lawyer, Lenore Shefman. Lenore helped me through a very difficult personal situation through tireless dedication and effort on my behalf. She is knowledgeable, thorough, and more than competent at what she does, which lifted a huge weight off my shoulders. I c...annot thank her enough for it. Even as she is so thorough and diligent, her humorous personality makes her a very an easy person to talk to, and it is a pleasure to speak with her. I am so grateful that I had Lenore and her legal team working on my case, she afforded me more reparation than I would have ever even thought possible. I can’t thank her enough for everything she has done for me and my partner.

Ok, so I stupidly thought that after 32 years as a USAA member that they would handle my claim in an appropriate and professional manner. Lenore warned me that I very much needed an attorney and not to let the insurance company handle the claim. She was absolutely correct. Everything that she said wo...uld happen, did happen. This experience has convinced me that if I or anyone I know ever gets hit by a car, or has some other accident I am sending them to Lenore.

Words can't express my gratitude to Lenore Shefman and her team. I was hit at 40 mph in a crosswalk on my bicycle, and Lenore was recommended to me by a friend in the cyclist community. She came to my house when I was badly injured and represented me for two years, and I am nothing short of blown a...way. At a time when I had no idea how I could possibly cover any of my medical bills and other losses, Lenore went above and beyond to make sure that I was compensated for the damage done by the accident, but for any future complications as well. Not only is she the most tenacious lawyer I have ever seen, but she also became a trusted mentor not only in regards to my case, but to life on life's terms.
