Good lawyer!

John and Meredith helped me with my child custody case. Being the grandparent, It was a complicated one. John is a no nonsense shoot straight kind of guy. He was there to answer all my questions and helped me gather everything I needed for court. I got custody. Years later they were there when I nee...ded them again, with good advice. I highly recommend this lawyer.

Disoriented, revokes promises.

When I first spoke with Mr. Izzo regarding my divorce, he seemed like he genuinely cared and wanted to help so naturally I hired him. As time and the divorce pressed on there were a number of times he claimed we were at the finish line and "just one more payment to bump the retainer". Eventuall...y it drug on and on so much he promised as long as we didn't have to re-enter the courtroom there would be no more charges "after this one" (his co-counsel and my family heard him say this verbally). After a while he hit me up for more money again and his co-counsel (which was always on call with him, so you get double billed: YAY!) did remind him ONCE that he'd said "no more billings" and then eventually she no longer stood up to Mr. Izzo in my defense about his promise. (She likely got reprimanded after her initial reminder to him). I reminded him of his promise as he tap danced around it and as I continued to push he said he needed money to continue and didn't want to argue and hung up on me. He knew full well if I were to spin up another attorney it would cost me thousands and thousands of dollars to get up to speed, so what choice did I REALLY have? I eventually relented, again.. what choice did I have? Then came more charges, and more, and more. It became almost predictable. He'd call and tell me the same story over and over again about some other judge in some other county. I probably paid hundreds if not THOUSANDS of dollars to hear that story time and time again. He constantly called me by someone else's name in the beginning until I harshly corrected him. I think his case load does not match with what he can handle and is overwhelmed, overworked and likely understaffed. The opposing counsel constantly filed things after the filing deadlines and Mr. Izzo just accepted it for what it was, rather than raising the issue with the courts as we came in unprepared. Every time we encountered a dead end or an issue we should have taken higher or objected he just shrugged and said "it is what it is". Bottom line: No FIT parent should have to pay what I paid in attorney fees to have access to their child and in the end, I got told "It's OK, you got the quality time with your kid on the weekends with no distractions like school work or doctors visits" as if being a second class citizen/parent was ever a goal to admire.

Money hungry

I hired John in 2008 he sounded very professional that was all a act to hire him. My case was settled very quickly due to my ex husband wanting a quick divorce. I got a call a hour after all papers where signed by the judge and Mr.Izzo said things changed and I needed more money ? He then said the o...ther lawyer didn't want to agree and I needed to give him more money to call the lawyer and get him to change his mind. I told him I had no money to give him and the judge signed off ??? He asked me if my mom could give me money or a credit card, I said no as far as I was concerned I was divorced I had a judge sign things and had filed paperwork for name change. Good Day! I called my ex husband and asked What is going on with your lawyer ? He said his lawyer and him never changed there mind and all paperwork was signed. He thought it was a way to get more money. 15 min later John called and said he made a phone call and was able to quickly get everything done and I was now divorced??? I have heard other stories of John trying to extort money. Beware !!
