If you want a good attorney that actually cares about you, your case and saving you money, STAY AWAY FROM JOHN IZZO! I got myself into a pickle with a woman that conned me for money...long story, but after interviewing 6 attorneys, I made the terrible mistake of hiring John Izzo. John said certain th...ings to me on our first call that no other attorney said, that is because he is a liar and told me what I wanted to hear. He told me he would ask the judge, if we went to a hearing, to grant to original divorce filed that was non-suited on day 61 after she filed for an uncontested divorce. No other attorney mentioned that and because it is not even possible. After hiring him he always talked about "saving me money." Let me add that every phone call I had with John and Meredith was recorded. John said many things to me that he never followed through on. One example is he told me we would have a strategy call before mediation and that he would be present during the mediation and Meredith would be on standby if needed. No strategy call took place and during the 4-hour mediation, Meredith was there the entire time. Additionally, Meredith did about 90% of the talking with me and the mediator while John was mostly distracted by his dog and not paying attention. I was billed for both his and Meredith's time for the mediation. When I asked about that I was told that was an "oversight" which I do not believe. To be fair, my account was credited for the double billing. John rarely scheduled a phone call with me but would just call randomly and usually after 5pm. Meredith would be on the calls and he would defer to her about 90% of the time. Meredith was really doing all of the work and handling my case, not John. After the mediation, I started noticing many discrepancies in things John told me previously that he later claimed were not true, that I misunderstood or misheard what he said. John did not know at that I recorded every phone call we had. When I called him out on that he immediately said he is withdrawing as my attorney and I needed to find new counsel. When I told him I did not want to do that he insisted that he was no longer willing to represent me. He did recommend a few people to reach out to. I found a great attorney that not only settled my case with no hearing and no community property division, but after paying a $10K retainer to the new atty., I was refunded $6,630 because the new attorney actually cared about me and my case and my money. He pressured the other side into a settlement that saved me a ton of money had we gone to court and had to do a full discovery. However, before he fired me as a client, he also told me that he would no longer be trying my case in court and his son would now be in the courtroom with me. His son knew nothing of my case so in order to bring him up to speed, that meant more billable hours and money out of my pocket. In the end, after I hired a new attorney, Izzo offered to help get him up-to-speed at no cost to me. So generous, right! However, he did nothing other than transfer my file over to my new attorney. In the end, new counsel, Josh Murray, did more for me, did more to save me money and actually settled my divorce quickly and efficiently. Izzo only cares about taking your money. After we parted ways John called me and he thought he was calling another client of his but when I told him he dialed my number instead, he claimed (lied) that my phone number was only 1 digit off of the client he thought he was calling. What are the odds of that actually happening...I have a 404 area code, too. John is a liar and a thief in my experience. In the coming days I will be filing a grievance with the Texas State Bar and will be submitting all of my supporting evidence against John that refutes claims in an email from him where I called him out on his many discrepancies. The recorded phone calls will prove that he lied or at the very least, gave me very bad legal advice. DO NOT hire John Izzo

I hired John in 2008 he sounded very professional that was all a act to hire him. My case was settled very quickly due to my ex husband wanting a quick divorce. I got a call a hour after all papers where signed by the judge and Mr.Izzo said things changed and I needed more money ? He then said the o...ther lawyer didn't want to agree and I needed to give him more money to call the lawyer and get him to change his mind. I told him I had no money to give him and the judge signed off ??? He asked me if my mom could give me money or a credit card, I said no as far as I was concerned I was divorced I had a judge sign things and had filed paperwork for name change. Good Day! I called my ex husband and asked What is going on with your lawyer ? He said his lawyer and him never changed there mind and all paperwork was signed. He thought it was a way to get more money. 15 min later John called and said he made a phone call and was able to quickly get everything done and I was now divorced??? I have heard other stories of John trying to extort money. Beware !!

Starts by saying we got the worst judge on the docket and that will cost you (the client) more money. He works only by cell but does not return calls. Business card does not show e-mail. Uses a rent an office where rent-a- secretary admits "poor cell reception". Then he charges you for not calling h...im. Charges clients for postage, copies and for driving to court to represent you. Promises a successful outcome then gets to court and never says a word. Upon leaving the court asks for more Money to continue to fight this case. If you refuse to pay more he files a Motion for withdrawal from your case. if you agree to the withdrawal Mr. Izzo sends you an outrageous bill with fee's you never agreed to and of course the 3000.00 retainer did not cover. And this experience happened in a space of 2 weeks.
