Upon earning an LL.M. in Tax Law from the University of Denver, Dorothy Butler decided to settle in Austin, Texas to start her family and law practice. After her son was born, Dorothy opened her practice from her home in Dripping Springs, allowing her to spend more time with her son. She works most weekends so that her clients do not have to take off of work to meet with their attorney. Dorothy also schedules meetings in locations convenient to her clients. For the convenience of her clients, Dorothy offers both phone consultations as well as in person consultations. She is also willing to travel to meet with clients in more remote counties. Dorothy welcomes both TLPP and ARAG clients.
Dorothy earned her B.S., B.C.L., and J.D. degrees from Louisiana State University. Geaux Tigers! She is licensed to practice law in both Texas and Louisiana. She is also admitted to practice in the Western District of Texas. She is a member of the Texas Bar Association, Louisiana Bar Association, Austin Bar Association, Travis County Women Lawyers’ Association, Austin Young Lawyer’s Association, and the Texas Young Lawyers Association. Recently, she was selected as a member of the Austin Bar Association/Austin Young Lawyer’s Association Leadership Academy for the 2014 year. She was also selected as the first female featured attorney for the Texas Legal Protection Plan.
In her free time, Dorothy is actively involved in music performance in both the greater Austin and greater New Orleans areas. Most recently, she performed in the Broadway Across America production of West Side Story in both Austin and New Orleans and the Fredericksburg Summer Theatre production of Oliver. She performs regularly with the Starlight Symphony Orchestra. She has also performed with Tony Award winner Bernadette Peters and BRIT Award winner Il Divo. She will be performing in the Broadway Across America production of Wicked in Austin for three weeks in February/March 2014.
