also known as RC Pate
Mr. RC Pate is a criminal defense lawyer and was born and raised in Corpus Christi. He grew up watching his father in trial as both an attorney and later a Judge. After attaining the rank of Eagle Scout, Mr. Pate moved to San Antonio to attend Trinity University where he received his BA majoring in both physics and religion while receiving minors in mathematics and philosophy.
After Graduating Trinity University, Mr. Pate stayed in San Antonio for a couple years performing as the house band for the local venue, The White Rabbit. Eventually he entered Law School at the University of Houston. While there, he had clerkships with a Bankruptcy Judge, The Attorney General’s Ofce, and eventually the Texas Supreme Court. He also competed on the University of Houston Mock Trial team where two years in a row his team made it to the Quarter finals of the National Trial Competition, and event that more than 1,000 teams compete in. When he graduated he was awarded the Irvin J Wiener award for his involvement in the school’s only criminal clinic, and was inducted into the Order of the Barristers in recognition of his Trial Advocacy prowess.
While awaiting his bar results he worked for the Nueces County, Kleberg County and Kenedy County District Attorney’s ofces and accepted a position with the Bexar
County District Attorney’s ofce the same day he was licensed to practice law. During this time Mr. Pate focused on learning the trade of criminal representation.
After two and a half years at the DA’s Ofce, Mr. Pate left to found the law office of R Pate, a firm focusing on criminal representation. For a year and a half he was of counsel to a law firm that represented DWI clients almost exclusively. His work has
attracted the attention of numerous people. He was honored to be a Judicial Candidate for County Court #14 as well as being named to the SA Scene magazine’s “Rising Stars” of the San Antonio legal community in 2014. He is proudly a founding member of the DUI Defense Lawyers Association (a National DWI association for attorneys), as well as a member of the TCDLA, SACDLA, and SAYLA.
Mr. Pate coaches soccer to underprivileged youth in the San Antonio area and is excited about bringing the knowledge to his clients in the Central Texas Area, and hopes to help you with your cases.

My name is Shane, I’ve had the privilege of being represented by one of only 2 scientist lawyers in the state, R.C. Pate! 4 years ago I was referred to RC from another attorney, who said she thought he could help. Help is an understatement, not only did I receive an extremely responsive team who s...

Was very well pleased with RC. Very responsive in returning your calls and keeping you informed with your case. Can't recommend a better lawyer who will do all he can to defend his client.

Pate was an excellent attorney on my case. He was confident and explained to me what would work best. I'm glad I had Pate as my attorney.
"I endorse this lawyer. RC Pate has always been a vigorous advocate for his clients and he truly cares for their well-being. As an Assistant District Attorney I got to try a few cases on the other side of the table with RC. He knows how to connect with a jury. RC has separated himself from the pack with his extensive knowledge of the law regarding Intoxication and Drug Possession charges. He is highly recommended."
"RC painstakingly studies the nuances involved with DWI breath and blood evidence, when numbers count, he's your man."
"RC is a wonderful lawyer. His prior experience as a prosecutor keeps him one step ahead when defending citizens accused of crimes. He has a laser-like approach to practicing law and will fight for his clients."
"I endorse this lawyer. I tried a case against RC when he was a prosecutor and his courtroom demeanor, arguments, and trial presentation were stellar. Since he became a criminal defense attorney years ago, I have seen him win cases when the odds were against him and his client. I have referred family friends to him when my office was unable to take their cases due to conflicts of interest. He is an excellent attorney."
