DO NOT HIRE ERINN G BROWN

I deeply regret retaining Erinn G. Brown for my foster-to-adopt case, and I am sharing my experience so other foster and adoptive parents can make an informed decision. I retained Erinn on September 17, 2024, after my foster daughter's out-of-state adult sibling expressed interest in placement. At... that point, my daughter had already been in my care for more than a year and my adoption was already underway. CPS temporarily paused the process because the sibling had to be considered as a potential caregiver. I was terrified of losing my daughter, and that fear is ultimately why I hired Erinn. One of the most troubling parts of my experience was what I perceived as scare tactics. Erinn told me CPS could remove my daughter from my home, place her with another foster family, and later use her adjustment to that placement to weaken my position. As a first-time foster-to-adopt parent caring for a child with significant medical needs, this terrified me. CPS, my daughter's attorney ad litem, and the other professionals involved never indicated to me that CPS was considering doing this. Less than a month after I retained Erinn, the sibling withdrew. There was no longer anyone challenging the adoption, there was never a contested adoption trial, and my adoption process resumed. Despite this, my legal fees with Erinn ultimately exceeded $10,000. Even after paying more than $10,000, Erinn did not provide me with the Zoom link for my daughter's adoption hearing despite my asking multiple times. I ultimately received the link from my daughter's attorney ad litem. The billing experience was equally frustrating. For more than six months, I repeatedly requested billing statements from Erinn and her office so I could understand how my retainer was being applied. My requests went unanswered. When I finally received a billing summary dated June 25, 2025, I disputed the handling of $2,500 that my fee agreement described as "non-refundable, but creditable." An attorney at the law firm where I work contacted Erinn on July 15, 2025, and again on August 18, 2025, attempting to resolve the issue. Those attempts also went unanswered. I ultimately filed a grievance with the State Bar of Texas. Shortly afterward, Erinn's office sent me a $2,500 check along with a Settlement and Release Agreement that initially conditioned the refund on my signing the release. I refused. Erinn later retracted that condition, allowing me to cash the $2,500 check without signing the release. Looking back, I paid more than $10,000 in connection with an adoption that was never litigated, spent months trying to obtain billing information, had to obtain the link to my own child's adoption hearing from another attorney, and ultimately filed a State Bar grievance over my experience. If I could go back, I would get a second opinion before making such an important legal decision out of fear. Based on my personal experience, I would NEVER retain Erinn G. Brown again.

DO NOT HIRE

As the over 50% of 1 star reviews should indicate, do not hire this attorney. I had hired her for a family case for which at the beginning I was given a rah rah speech on how I had a strong case (I very much did) to win and how she was going to represent me well. The retainer was collected and afte...r initial work, there was over a year of absolutely nothing and she came close to actually messing my case up entirely. During that time I had emailed and called with no response from Ms. Brown for a 6 month period. She was very combative as were some of her people in her office. I never received any billing updates and ultimately had to fire her and hire a new attorney. DO NOT HIRE HER

Dear Anonymous: Unfortunately the state bar of Texas does not allow me to post your full name here or respond to your review in the manner I would like to respond. But, I will say this…. Unfortunately, not everyone who would like to have me represent them can actually afford my services. You are such an example. I wish you the best going forward representing yourself.

My Struggle Was HERS

I cannot tell you how much money I spend n the very expensive family law attorneys… almost a half million and it was unjust. I went to Erinn (and Cesar) and although court proceedings were delayed because of COVID- Erinn and her team helped me get my kiddos back. They helped me learn to encourage co-...parenting with my ex and have helped my two beautiful daughters have both parents in their lives without contention!! Thank you Erinn Brown et al!

DO NOT USE THIS ATTORNEY!!!!!!!!!

I needed a family attorney. She took my money did not return my calls, handed me off to someone else, and never filed any paperwork. I sent a letter to ask for my money back with no response. Go to an attorney who a least will return your calls. She not only failed me but two innocent children.

Best Attorney

Erinn Brown represented me on a child custody case. We got everything we were seeking. She fought hard for me. She genuinely cared about my case. Easy to talk to and to get a hold of. She is the Best Attorney in Brazoria County in my opinion.

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
