Jason is a Houston native who graduated from Klein Forest High School in 1998. He earned an appointment to the United States Naval Academy, where he graduated in 2002 and was commissioned as an ensign in the United States Navy. After three years of active duty as a Surface Warfare Officer, he transitioned to the reserves and returned to Houston to attend law school at South Texas College of Law Houston.
While at South Texas College of Law Houston, Jason was selected as one of only 12 students from his first-year class to join the prestigious South Texas College of Law Advocacy program. He became a traveling Mock Trial Advocate and received recognition as a top-10 Mock Trial Advocate multiple times. His exceptional performance led to him being awarded the “John O’Quinn Heart of an Advocate” award.
After graduating from law school, Jason served as a Judge Advocate with the Texas Army National Guard, defending soldiers charged with wrongdoing under the Uniform Code of Military Justice and the Texas Code of Military Justice.
In 2013, Jason founded The Kercheval Law Firm, primarily handling criminal, family, and probate cases in Montgomery, Harris, and Grimes Counties. In 2015, he became a Defense Attorney for the Montgomery County Veteran’s Treatment Court and started the Veteran’s Treatment Court Support Fund, a 501c3 non-profit agency.
Jason’s focus on family law led him to join Price & Price, a well-regarded firm in Montgomery County, Texas known statewide for its family law practice. He concentrated on family law cases there, enhancing his skills and experience.
Jason and his wife Jaime, whom he met during law school, are proud parents to their daughter, Jenevieve, born in 2017. They restarted the Kercheval Law Firm in 2023 after Jason’s tenure at Price & Price.
In March 2024, Jason accepted the opportunity to join the Ramos Law Group as a Senior Associate. Quickly, Jason was added to the management team for the Ramos Law Group, and he continues to handle his cases as well as mentoring the other associates at the firm.

Jason is THE Family Law Lawyer
From the very beginning, Jason provided objective and productive counsel regarding my case. He was honest and transparent throughout the process, and I was confident in his opinions and abilities. We were able to reach an agreement during mediation, and I appreciate all of his input and willingness t...

Poor Customer Service/Unreliable
Only handled my divorce case by email. Never came to say hello or meet me in person when I went to the office to sign paperwork. Didn’t seem to care about my thoughts or opinions Definitely poor Customer Service.
I am surprised to see this comment. I have not ever "handled [a] divorce case by email." Nor have I ever had a client I did not meet. Thus I must assume this is a former opposing party (not my client) who is unhappy with how I represented their former spouse (my client) in a divorce, probably because I didn't let them bully me or my client.

"Mr. Kercheval is an excellent attorney who goes out of his way to help both his clients and other attorneys in the community. I cannot recommend him highly enough."
"Mr. Kercheval was opposing counsel on many of my cases while I was at the Montgomery County District Attorney's Office. I always found him to be easy to work with but also a very strong advocate for his client's best interest. He was clearly knowledgeable on all areas of criminal defense law. Now that I have left the Da's office I have gotten to discuss other areas of law with Mr. Kercheval and it is clear he is extremely knowledgeable in the area of family law as well."
"I endorse this lawyer. Jason is brilliant; unequivocally, he is the smartest person I know. This works for his clients whom he represents with zeal and integrity. He is dilligent and determined to get the very best deal for his clients."
"Jason is a fellow lawyer whom I respect and admire. He is meticulous in his work and does not ever miss any detail no matter how small. He is incredibly intelligent and easy to work with. We have consulted together on many cases and he has always taken the time to talk things over with me and he readily provides solid recommendations and advice on trial strategies. He always strives to get the best result for his clients, but more importantly, he truly cares about them and their future. I have no hesitation recommending Jason to anyone."
