Patty Maginnis attended Brenau Women's College in Gainesville, Georgia and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Public Administration and Secondary Education with an emphasis in Broad Field Social Science. After working as a secondary education teacher, at the American School in Mexico City, Mexico, she attended South Texas School. While attending law school Patty worked for Hardin, Beers, Hagstette & Davidson, Houston, Texas, where she was able to watch, participate and learn from renown criminal defense attorneys Rusty Hardin and Charley Davidson. Also while attending law school Patty served on an anti-gang task force under Mayor Bob Lanier’s administration, directly reporting to Kim Ogg.
After graduating from South Texas College of Law, Patty worked as a prosecutor in the Montgomery County Attorneys Office and District Attorneys Office. Patty served as the Justice of the Peace Division Chief, Misdemeanor Division Chief, County Court at Law Chief, District Court Chief and the Crimes against Children Prosecutor. While serving as a prosecutor Patty was selected as a representative for the county on the state wide indigent task force. As a prosecutor she was committed to making sure citizens accused of criminal acts were being given competent and just representation.
Patty also served as a municipal court Judge for over six years in a Montgomery County Municipality. She presided over 180 trials at the municipal level and worked with multiple juries and attorneys. This experience gave Patty a unique perspective as to how cases are presented by both defense attorneys and prosecutors, and on how jurors responded to cases. There are few criminal defense attorneys that have had the vantage point from three different chairs in the courtroom.
Patty has extensive trial experience. Patty has tried over 200 hundred cases to a jury. She has defended those accused of speeding tickets all the way up to murder and charges of sexual assault. During her 20 years in the legal community Patty has gained unparalleled experience, reliable relationships with Judges, Prosecutors and Court Personnel alike, while working tirelessly on being able perfect her ability to speak to jurors and persuade them to see her client’s point of view. Patty believes that people should have their opportunity to be heard. It is for these reasons that she has been able to achieve just and favorable results for her clients.
