Raj Mahadass is a Managing Partner and Shareholder at PMR Law, a Houston-based personal injury law firm representing individuals and families injured by negligence throughout Texas, Arizona, and New Mexico. His practice focuses on personal injury litigation, including car accidents, commercial truck and 18-wheeler accidents, catastrophic injuries, wrongful death claims, and other serious injury cases.
Raj brings extensive courtroom, litigation, and negotiation experience to the representation of injured people and their families. Before entering private practice, he served as an Assistant District Attorney for Harris County, where he handled a demanding caseload and developed substantial experience evaluating evidence, negotiating cases, preparing legal arguments, and appearing in court.
Before serving as a prosecutor, Raj worked on the civil side of Harris County government as an Assistant Staff Attorney for the Harris County Office of Court Management and as an Assistant General Counsel for the Harris County Attorney’s Office. He also clerked for the Honorable R. Jack Cagle. These roles gave Raj experience working with judges, elected officials, complex legal issues, civil procedure, negotiations, motions, and courtroom advocacy.
Today, Raj applies that background to plaintiff-side personal injury litigation at PMR Law. He represents people injured in car crashes, commercial vehicle and trucking accidents, catastrophic injury cases, wrongful death claims, premises liability matters, defective product cases, and other accidents caused by negligence or wrongful conduct.
In serious motor vehicle cases, Raj and the PMR Law team investigate how a crash occurred, identify responsible parties, preserve evidence, evaluate available insurance coverage, document injuries and financial losses, and pursue accountability from negligent drivers, companies, commercial carriers, and insurers. Truck accident and 18-wheeler cases can involve additional issues such as trucking company responsibility, driver conduct, vehicle maintenance, safety regulations, electronic records, and multiple potentially responsible parties.
Raj also represents families pursuing wrongful death claims after the preventable loss of a loved one. He understands that a catastrophic injury or fatal accident can affect every part of a family's life, and his approach combines detailed case preparation with direct, compassionate representation.
As a Managing Partner, Raj helps lead PMR Law's personal injury practice and the firm's representation of injured clients and families. PMR Law is headquartered in Houston, Texas, and Raj is licensed to practice in Texas, Arizona, and New Mexico.
Raj has also held significant leadership positions within the legal community. He served as President of the Houston Trial Lawyers Association in 2025, after previously serving as President-Elect, Secretary/Treasurer, and Chair of its Diversity Committee. His work with the organization has included supporting Houston's plaintiff trial bar and increasing participation among members from diverse legal communities.
Raj has also held leadership positions with the South Asian Bar Association of North America and the South Asian Bar Association of Houston, including previously serving as President of SABA Houston. He has been active with the Houston Bar Association and received the HBA President's Award for Outstanding Service.
Raj earned his Bachelor of Science from Tulane University, graduating magna cum laude with a business background in management and marketing. He later earned his law degree from Emory University School of Law in Atlanta.
Originally from New Jersey, Raj developed strong ties to Houston through family before ultimately making the city his home. Outside the practice of law, he enjoys golf, sports, traveling, exploring Houston's restaurant scene, and spending time with family and friends.
