My name is Sidd Rao and I am a trial lawyer with an employment practice focused on workplace discrimination under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act (“Title VII”) and Chapter 21 of the Texas Labor Code (“Chapter 21”), sexual harassment, disability claims, accommodations, and the interactive process under the Americans with Disabilities Act (“ADA”), unlawful retaliation of all kinds, rights and responsibilities under the Family Medical Leave Act (“FMLA”), wage and hour claims under the Fair Labor Standards Act (“FLSA”), including exempt/nonexempt misclassifications, overtime, and minimum wage litigation, whistleblower laws, breaches of contract, and non-competes and other restrictive covenants. I am Board Certified in Labor and Employment Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.

I routinely negotiate Executive agreements, employment contracts, consulting agreements, and severance packages. I represent individuals with their employment law claims under the various state and federal laws. I assist small businesses with their human resources and labor and employment needs. I am admitted to practice in all Texas State and Federal Courts. I am active in my legal community because I believe that attorneys have a civic duty to give back to the public. I serve as Treasurer and Council member of the Houston Bar Association – Labor and Employment Section. I am also a Board member of the Houston chapter of the National Employment Lawyers Association. Prior to joining Shellist Lazarz Slobin LLP, I represented clients in commercial and business deals. I have tutored law students in the law of contracts and I am also experienced in corporate compliance matters as well as the Texas deregulated retail electricity market, including consumer complaints and regulatory compliance.
