I do NOT recommend Jason Laas-Sughrue of JLS law out of Waco/Arlington - He incompetent and lies.

I do not recommend and will never refer anyone to Jason Laas-Sughrue of JLS law. I made the mistake of responding to a mailed flyer and contacting Jason Laas-Sughrue by phone on September 16th. In that initial phone conversation he said he would first reach out to the opposing counsel and request a... forbearance, modification or some other type of resolution other than bankruptcy. But if needed a bankruptcy could be done. He said over the phone his retainer to do all this was $400. He then wanted to do a Zoom meeting on September 17 – which took an hour of basically me watching him type a letter, asking for documents (which could have been done via text or email) and him asking me questions he already had the answer to - like my cell number that he had already used to text and email of which he had already asked for documents. It was a complete waste of time. He asked for a 2nd zoom, which consisted of him saying the attachments in your emails did not come though please re-send. That was it. Again waste of time. This could have been communicated via text or email. During that zoom his assistant Molly said they had everything they needed, they were in contact with opposing counsel and that if we needed to do a bankruptcy she would make sure to have all paper work for me to sign on October 1st. She said they would call on September 29th to confirm. NO one called. I complained. He requested a 3rd zoom which literally consisted of him saying….Molly is going to email you later with questions to finish the documents…. Molly did not email. No one called on October 1st. I complained on October 2nd. and complained about not receiving the documents that I needed to design. This incompetent person then said I am waiting on the retainer. (Had never asked before – poor business ethics). I sent the $400 on Friday, October 3rd after I had to ask for an invoice, link or some way to pay the retainer as he had only said….”how do you want to send the retainer”. Again poor business practices. . No response. I reached out on Saturday, October 4. No response. I continued to email & text. He then said his retainer was $4250 instead of $400. He now was wanting the entire atty fee allowed by the courts – even though his initial email said… “This fee is generally approved by the bankruptcy court and is paid through your Chapter 13 plan.” I panic since the sale date was Tuesday October 7th and I had not planned (over these past weeks ) for $4000 since he had said $400. I complained. His response was I’ll send you back your $400. That was it. He left me hanging to find someone to assist me with just 1 business day before the sale. This speaks volumes of his integrity & character. There was no contract, lack of disclosure and lies from the beginning to the end. I do not recommend Jason Laas-Sughrue of JLS Law out of Waco (or Arlington as they claim). He also goes by Jason Sughrue and Jason Delmar. I would not trust this shady person with any thing that is important to your family.

I CONSIDER THIS MAN THE ABSOLUTE WORST ATTORNEY I HAVE EVER DEALT WITH. BAD COUNSEL LEFT ME WITH $293,000 LIABILITY

I had a chapter 13 filing with this Attorney. When I got divorced and could not handle the mortgage any more, i made several efforts to get him to convert to chapter 7, so I could discharge everything, including the Foreclosure Liability that was imminent. I got some response FINALLY, after I wrote ...him two certified letters with return receipt. Then, he managed to convince me that I was better off with the Chapter 13. Being in that state of mind where you lose your House, your Wife and your job, all within a short space of time, you are too weak to fight or think for yourself. My Attorney gave me a terrible piece of advise. I could not understand why this Man thought I was better off continuing to pay debts I did not have to, and could not afford any more, instead of converting to chapter 7. Well, I listened to him, and made the greatest mistake of my life. My Chapter 13 has been discharged, and my lender waited till now to make formal foreclosure move on the House. Since I cannot file for another Bankruptcy for several years, I am now stuck with a Liability of $293,000 on a $158,000 House. How could this Man call himself a Lawyer? My several calls were never answered, most messages left on their answering system were never returned, and it got to a point where I practically threatened his License for him to return my calls. In lots of cases, I had to call the Office to ask about certain mails I received from David Peak, and I suspect they were sent copies. I was the one who notified my Attorney's Office about my Chapter 13 payments having been completed. Should it not have been the other way around? Sometimes, I was tempted to think he might be working against, and not for me. Yes, it was that bad. Am I wrong to feel this way? Are all Bankruptcy Lawyers like this?

Great Attorney

I hired this Attorney to file a Chapter 13 case for me. He saved my home and helped me control my credit cards and other people that were hounding me for money. He helped me the whole way through the process, he told me what was going to happen and he was right. After I met with him, I could sleep fo...r the first time in months.
