also known as Daney De La O
Dáney De La O is a native Texan and Houstonian. She began her illustrious career at the age of nine advocating for the victims of playground bullies, arguing the injustice of cafeteria food, and skillfully negotiating Garbage Pail Kids trades. She attended the University of Texas at Austin and later transferred to the University of Houston, where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in May 2004. She continued her post-graduate education at Thurgood Marshall School of Law, where she earned her Juris Doctor in May 2009.
Ms. De La O is a passionate advocate and enjoys an incredibly diverse practice in general civil matters, concentrating specifically in the areas of landlord-tenant law; construction litigation; real estate and probate litigation; business and commercial litigation; and consumer protection law. She has successfully represented and defended the rights of tenants, landlords, business owners, homeowners, builders, subcontractors and general contractors. Her interest in property, construction and business law comes from growing up in a family-owned and operated masonry company. She understands the pitfalls of operating a business and the importance of protecting contractual rights and uses this experience daily in advocating for the rights of her clients.
Ms. De La O’s practice is also quickly expanding into the area of transgender law. She has happily helped both trans adults and minors receive name changes and gender marker changes in Harris County and surrounding counties and is eager to take on trans employment and trans insurance discrimination cases. Ms. De La O is an active participant in local and national LGBTQ rights and has many alliances and memberships in national, state, and local LGBTQ groups. She is currently a board member of the Houston GLBT Political Caucus and the Stonewall Legal Association of Greater Houston.

Client
Not professional. Rarely returns calls. Does not read texts or emails. Paralegal is horrible. Dismissed herself on the day of my trial because of heresy from opposing counsel. Truly a waste of time and money. I was very saddened and disappointed. I was hopeful based on our initial conversation and he...
These are the actual facts: I believed you and went above and beyond to help you despite running into difficulties. You refused my help or assistance. You refused my advice as your lawyer. You refused to listen. I ultimately withdrew from your case because your behavior and treatment towards me was severely triggering my PTSD. I also feared for my safety. Unfortunately, I was expecting this attack of lies from you in a forum where it is difficult for me to prove otherwise. I am grateful for the compassion of opposing counsel, the judge, and my staff, who all helped me traverse this very difficult and uncomfortable situation.

This company is unethical.
I called and left a voice message to inquire about services on April 10, 2018, and Daney called me back minutes later and we discussed my situation she agreed with me stating that I had substantial evidence to build a case against my previous landlord. She told me that she would send over the retaine...
I successfully settled this matter for this client and for free. I offered my services for free considering shortly after I was retained by this client, I suffered a personal loss in my family, and had to take a short break from work. This client agreed to remove her reviews, considering everything that I did for her, i.e. she ended up with a wonderful settlement agreement. However, despite her agreement, she failed to remove the reviews.

Tenant landlord dispute
We moved into a home in Chanelview from out of town. I had specified that mold must me re-mediated under kitchen sink. When we moved in the mold was still under the sink, the house was filthy and the gas company flagged the property for carbon monoxide when we turned the gas on. Owners had advertised...

This lawyer was disciplined by a state licensing authority in 2022.
Fully Probated Suspension issued in TX, 2022
updated on 08/30/2023Fully probated suspension means an attorney is technically suspended but may still practice law. The State monitors the lawyer's activities during the suspension to make sure that he or she does not repeat the behavior.
“The case for which this disciplinary history is based is a case that I took when starting my law firm in 2016. It was a worker's compensation case and is not at all related to my primary area of practice (landlord-tenant law). I did everything my client wanted. I did not expect a grievance. I was disciplined for an excuse I included in a continuance based motion. Nothing that affected my client or the case. I was not represented by a lawyer at my hearing, which cost my reputation dearly.”
